Way too many guns. Reminds me of the glut of Super TIE kitbashes and the arguments over the 10-gun Interceptor from back in the day.

If they got rid of the chin/wing guns and kept the center heavy lasers and the defense turret I could see this being viable.

Or perhaps keep the wing lasers and ditch the center heavy lasers and enlarge the bomb bay a simidge with that freed up space.

Now, if they made the ship 1.5x or 2x larger and added some visible crew positions I could see the B25 argument work as justification for all the extra weapons.

Eh, it would make sense for the First Order to come up with a capital ship killer. Having said that, this all seems a little too OP.

I'm with Driftwood. Keep the heavy lasers and defense turret, and it'd work.

This is probably just my feeling, but the First Order has never come up with anything truly innovative in starfighter design.
All their fighters look like recycled old Imperial TIEs adapted to the new warfare.

Sorry for the necro, but it turns out the design wasn't that far off.

We got our first look at the First Order TIE Bomber from the Allegiance comic preview.

Gotta say, I'm a huge fan of it.

It was also seen in the Resistance Season 2 trailer and poster a couple months ago.

Considering it usually takes 2-3 years to go from concept to final product for an animated series, they've had this design sitting around for a while now.

I generally kinda hate the FO and the sequel movies, but that design right there made me question it. If something like this was introduced in Ep9, I might actually care. Its so weird... I want them to pay homage without directly copying. But the homage I want, I want to to be several generations away from the OT, enough for me not to see everything as a reboot style re-imagineing. Essentially this Bomber design is far enough away from the original while still being faithful that I could totally believe Jamus-Sienar would wave landed on this design 30 years later.

What's your thoughts on the Resurgent-class?

No qualms with the design elements. Retains its republic-imperial roots, look like a continuation of the Kuat line. The things that rubbed me wrong as they were revealed were Kylo's shuttle, the stormtrooper transports were fine though and seemed like the logical progression from the D x-9. It was the TIE/sf that gave my the biggest headache, then of course the X-wing V2s, the massive bomber things in Ep8, the list goes on. I love the characters though, Poe and Kylo are pretty solid. Misused the older actors though, quite severely in some cases.

With solo and R1, I only had one major and one minor issue with any of the tech they added.
1. Krennec's shuttle. Its god awful, and seemed like a great opportunity to show us another Lambda, Sentinel, or nod to the EU with an Escort Shuttle. A chance they fumbled.
2. The transport shuttle, while getting more screen time to allow me to process it, it just seemed too close to Sequel trilogy tech in the design elements for me to buy it. Had the same overall shape been retained but borrowed more directly from the lambda and sentinel for its cockpit and wing design along with color scheme I would have been happier. In fact, an elongated Sentinel, with the quad wing design from R1, minus the dorsal fin would have been perfect.

The most impressive from Solo and R1:
The U-wing, it's gorgeous and completely new. Fits in with the design elements of the era and frankly is my new favorite rebel ship. Its so versatile and really shows us how light transports are used in that era. I really hope Darksaber/DTM add that to DSUCP at some point.

But, I digress. This is about FO bombers I guess. And my opinion is simply that of a bitter middle aged nerd. I in no way intend to take any enjoyment from anyone else if they love this stuff.
