Awesome shields effect and impressive explosions. I also really appreciate those Alliance custom flight groups.

TIE Interceptor-Bombers at 6:41/8:06.
This is a nice addition.

Lucasfilm MUST make this canon!

It's too bad the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer is no longer canon.

The Tie Bombterceptor was supposed to be a bigger part of the short but ended up getting almost entirely cut out early on, sadly. The idea for it was just as you'd expect. A tie bomber that can dogfight a bit. The bomb chute was removed so it can only fire warheads directly ahead.

I imagine this design is probably the worst of both worlds. The slowness of the bomber, the fragility of the interceptor, and the ugliness of a lazy 3D artist.

Oddly enough, I actually really like the design.

Perhaps it'll get the spotlight if I ever do an Empire themed video again. Definitely need to spruce up the model before then though.

TIE Bomberceptor is already awesome as it is now. The only part that probably needs some minor editing is the engine section behind the torpedo bay.

I would really like to see a stat comparison TIE Bomberceptor vs TIE Oppressor.

True, I wasn't too happy with that element either. The name Bombterceptor sounds pretty silly too but it's just the name that's stuck in my head.

Maybe "Bomberceptor" (without the "t").

According to the Legends continuity the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer carried a fighter Complement made of 35 TIE Interceptor squadrons and 5 TIE Bomber squadrons.
This could be a bit out of topic, but considering we have some new designs now, I was wondering what the new fighter Complement would be. I'd say something like this:
15 TIE Interceptor squadrons (180 units)
10 TIE Aggressor squadrons (120 units)
10 TIE Oppressor squadrons (120 units)
4 TIE Bomber squadrons (48 units)
1 TIE "Bomberceptor" squadron (12 units)

Just to speculate a bit...

And the standard TIE Fighters are provided by Imperial I and Imperial II Star Destroyers.

I see you maintain 35 TIE Interceptor variants squadrons and 5 TIE Bomber variants squadrons design as the complement.
This makes sense considering how the hangar of the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer has been configured.

A curious thing: the article about the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer on Wookieepedia (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Sovere ... _Destroyer ) states that
Like the larger Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer, the Sovereign-class featured an axial superlaser on par with the Death Star.
I really don't see how this can be possible: a superlaser as powerful as the Concave Dish Composite Beam Superlaser (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Concav ... Superlaser ).
Unlike for the Executor-class Star Dreadnought, we don't have any data available for the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer about the Power output of the reactor though.

The EU for Star Wars has always been a mess consistency wise. It also states that the Tie Interceptor has 10 laser cannons instead of the generally accepted 4. (Four on the wings, four between the wings, and two on the chin.)

Overall there are just far too many super weapons that try to one up the Deathstar as well. (Suncrusher, World Devastators, Proto-Deathstar, Darksaber, Centerpoint Station, Pulsar Stations, Galaxy Gun, etc. )

I kind of always hated that so I basically just made the Sovereign on par with the other super star destroyers. I didn't want to blow it up either since every super weapon just shows up, destroys a thing, and then explodes. Biggerer is not always better but I thought it would be fun to see in action for a bit.

The Sovereign is interesting in that it never actually shows up outside the Dark Empire sourcebook, so it's more difficult to estimate.

Personally, I always found the Sovereign far more convincing than the Eclipse, but that's just me.

Really? Maybe it's that "on the wings" and "between the wings" what caused confusion, but I'm sure they are referring to the same 4 L-s9.3 laser cannons.

They seem to have updated the page to reflect that, as I cannot find the part I had read a while back. Last time I viewed it they counted both sets of wing lasers at once. A bit odd really. There are still 3 versions of it listed on the page, either as canon, legends (EU), and refit (EU). I suppose with an IP as big as Star Wars there would be some confusion at times.

And Disney decided to get rid of the Expanded Universe, just to be safe.

For anybody looking to build the mission (Star Wars: Imperial Assault) using a mission editor, the Alliance "custom Flight Groups" (aka Global Units) are as follows.
Green Group: 3 X-Wings and 1 A-Wing
Red Group: 6 X-Wings
Gold Group: 4 A-Wings and 2 B-Wings (let's avoid inserting the Z-95 Headhunters)
Blue Group: 3 B-Wings and 3 Y-Wings

And there is also a Global Unit entirely made of YT-series Corellian Transports.

Not sure if the player should be flying an X-Wing from Red Group since they have to engage the defending (???) fighters, or X-Wing Green 2 since he is the protagonist.
