I guess most people know this already but Star Wars - Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition is free for one week at Epic Games.

I actually didn't have it, not a huge fan of 99% MP shooters, but free is free. Got it now
On that note, EA does no longer have exclusive rights to publish AAA Star Wars titles. Lucasfilm Games have started working with Ubisoft on a new open world SW Title. That's going to be interesting.

It's defo worth getting for free if you don't have it!
Even if you only play solo the single player campaign is worth a go.
Plus you can play against bots so the space stuff can be tried out

The single player campaign is nice enough if short, though it's basically a sequel to the Inferno Squad novel which does most of the heavy lifting in presenting and fleshing out the characters.Vince T wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 10:08 amI actually didn't have it, not a huge fan of 99% MP shooters, but free is free. I downloaded the game and finished both campaigns.
Starship battles are fantastic.
However strangely the game cannot be used with a joystick, only an XBOX pad.
This ruins the game.
However I managed tho fly with a joypad (xbox elite controller), despite its lack of precision compared with a stick.
EA just ported the console game to PC.
Is there a way to use a joystick ?
I tried X360ce but is is just a mapping of keys to joystick and this does not really work properly.
In fact XWA has no real successor (17 years after it has been launched):
* Star Wars Battlefront 2 would have been top for an arcade shooting game but no joystick recognized (incredible that game creators have not thought about this);
* Star Wars squadron is more a simulator, you need a joystick with min 15 buttons or you can use two joysticks (the second one just for extra buttons).
I hope you can find a way to use a stick with BF2 since it is far more fun to play than Star Wars squadrons.
I prefer arcade games or games I can just play without thinking too much, games are for me a way to relax (just a personnal standpoint).
Multiplayer works quite well (especially space battle with 24 players on line)!
My advice: download SWBF2, you will not regret it!

Not really. Like that emulator you mentioned, or other virtual controller setups that are complicated and still have problems ingame.Bob_Sinclar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:47 pmIs there a way to use a joystick ?

I wish I had checked this forum sooner, totally missed out on this. Not that it would have run on this laptop...XWAU barely runs on this laptop now.
