Hi
I was just fiddling around with XWA multiplayer and I wondered if it is possible to play campaign missions in multiplayer, or not. Because I only found skirmish and racing missions.
Maybe I overlooked something....? Or is it really not possible, that would be a shame.
I've already searched th forum with no sucess.
So, if somebody knows how to do it....please tell me.

Nope. You can do that in XvT/BOP though.

Sad...so I assume there are also no custom multiplayer mission ? (Cause then you could "convert" campaign mission in Allied to custom missions)

Actually, you can make them.
The staff at XWA Crusade do it fairly regular (unless I'm mistaken).
The URL is at http://xwlegacy.net/crusade/crusademain.htm You can email them and ask them how.
If I remember correctly, you create your mission in Allied, and then save it as a temp.tie file in the skirmish folder. Seems like there was a flag that had to be turned on it the temp.tie file, but it's been too long ago since I played around with it.
[ 15 January 2003: Message edited by: RogueWing ]

Hmm...they're dwon at the moment...but i'll try to find out some stuff with the temp.tie, I've read somewhere, if you make it read only, the skirmish editor can't change it
...thnx anyway

Yes you can, but everyone have to have the EXACTLY SAME version of the file, and you have to do some fiddling with AlliED. Oh, and you can't hyperspace between regions.
1. Pick the mission you want. I'll use the battle for the Liberty in battle 2 as an example as it already has only one region.
2. Make a copy of the mission file. This copy is the file you'll be using.
3. First thing you'll have to do is go into AlliED and change some stuff. First off all, open the Mission Parameters box (just to the right of the save button), and change Rebel to Skirmish.
4. Next, we'll have to assign a ship to every player. This mission requires minimum change in this field too, as it already has 10 rebel Flight groups. Assign X-Wing Red 4 (3rd flight group) player 2, and move it above the backdrop (player 1 must be FG 0, first on the list; 2 must be FG 2, second on the list, and so on). Assign Red 7 player 3, A-Wing Blue 1 Player 4, and so on to B-Wing Green 5 being player 8.
5. Save this mission as something you'll easily remember. We'll save it as "MP Liberty mission.tie".*
6. Make a copy of this mission named "temp.tie" in the Skirmish folder, overwriting the old Temp.Tie. Make this new file read-only.
7. When you launch XWA, the skirmish has been replaced with the Liberty battle :)!
8. To uninstall, remove the Read-Only attribute from the Temp.Tie file and XWA will overwrite it.
*You don't have to do this, it's just for you to be able to install the mission again after you uninstall it without having to set everything up over again.

You can have multi-region multiplayer, but it involves flipping a byte in the skirmish file.
