Hello.
The mission with Luke Skywalker and Dash Rendar (the one which you intercept the 'fertilizer' shipment) crashes to desktop at various points with XWAUpgrade, and because of that I can't proceed :-?

The most common occurrence of this CTD is a few seconds (30-40) after the battle starts. I found that when ordering your Y-Wing squad to disable the freighter (instead of letting them proceed with the default flight plan), this doesn't happen (although, it renders your squad useless because for some reason they don't attack the freighter).
But, a few moments after Rendar's craft boards the freighter, the game consistently crashes also, with or without your squad having survived.

I've had CTDs with XWAUpgrade before but they were all random. This time they happen very consistently throughout the mission.

Any ideas on what could be happening?

I am running XWAUpgrade on 1920x1080 resolution. Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. 8GB of RAM, Intel i7 processor, NVidia Geforce GTX 960M video card.

(... any feedback regarding the other random crashes I mentioned would be helpful also)

Use the windows search by right clicking the start button and click search. Then type in Event Viewer. Once opened, click the windows logs and click on the applications category. Might take some time to load the logs. Look for any that are related to XwingAlliance.exe. Copy the details as text and paste them here.

Hmm. I'm not able to glean anything important from the data posted. Is there any more data available? Try to get it to crash again and post those logs.

I don't know exactly what causes the crash and if it could be a mission file related bug, but I opened this mission (1b4m4b.tie) with AlliED and I found 3 buggy things:

1) The Arrival conditions of SUP Suprosa is "100% of ship type Y-Wing must arrive in Region #2" (Delay 20 sec); this means that if you order at least 1 of your Y-Wing Blue to wait for orders in Region #1 (the region where you start the mission from L/CRS Liberty), then SUP Suprosa should not arrive at all.
Trying to change that "100%" to "At least one" might help.

2) Player's Global Unit, Global Unit 1, has 12 crafts at the same time, whereas your Flight Commands main menu only allows for up to 6 crafts, including yours; this means you are prevented from giving orders to Y-W Blue 7-12.
Trying to reassign the second Flight Group of Y-Wings to Global Unit 2 (and deselecting that #) might help too.

3) Both the first and the second order in Region #2 of Player's Flight Group (Y-W Blue 1) have the Jump condition set to "Always true"; this is theoretically correct since in this case the order priority number determines what order the crafts from that Flight Group are performing, but I would say it's a really bad way to design orders in a mission, so I'm not surprised if this causes an order related bug.
A solution might be to set the Jump to order 1 in R2 condition to "100% of Flight Group SUP Suprosa must arrive". This should fix the problem, but in case this causes your Y-Wings to have strange behaviors after SUP Suprosa has been disabled I suggest you copy order 2 in Region #2 to order 4 in Region #2 and assign Jump condition "100% of Flight Group SUP Suprosa must be disabled" to make sure you have logic continuity with orders.

There is also a fourth strange thing and this might have something to do with this crash: after SUP Suprosa has been boarded it defects to Team Alliance, IFF Rebel (Order 3 in Region #2); this causes it to jump to Order 4 (Fly home) even though it has not been repaired. No crafts has order "Board to repair SUP Suprosa" and the only craft docking with SUP Suprosa, YT-2400 Outrider, has "Board to Take SUP Suprosa" as Order 3 in Region #2.
The simplest solution here is to simply delete Order 4 in Region #2 for SUP Suprosa by setting it to "Hold Steady", Speed: default.

I though you and Mark Farlander took it upon yourselves to fix these missions? I thought this was the reason you formed the X-Wing Alliance Mission Update Project?

But I've only seen the first 4 missions from you, do you have any update to the X-Wing Alliance Mission Update Project and any other missions fixed?

We will have other missions ready soon (a few weeks). We will share them using Dropbox. But we are following mission order, so we are still far from reaching Battle 4, Mission 4.

A minor update to the X-Wing Alliance Mission Update Project I'd like to post here: we have been able to find out that when AI controlled crafts in player's Global Unit do not perform what the player orders to do (temporarily overwriting the default order), this is caused by an AI behavior problem and not directly by a mission bug.
This can usually be played around by changing orders and conditions using AlliED, but it can be sometimes tricky.

In this topic there are 3 problems posted: 2 game crashes (1 before and 1 after the Outrider has boarded the Suprosa) and 1 situation where your companions do not do what the player orders to do (AI behavior problem?), but it's not a case we found before.

To be honest, in the last 2 months I've been also busy with other problems in a Galaxy far, far away called Milky Way, so I didn't do my part of the project.
But I won't disappoint you.
