Hey all! Just back to playing XWA over the last few weeks after a couple of years away. First few sessions of multiplayer were fine using GameRanger. Just a friend and I in the games. We have since updated to Dynamic Cockpits. Both of us have done the same updates, in the same order. After some issues, we both uninstalled and reinstalled the game and all updates in the same order with the same options, just to be safe. The issue is that the last few sessions we have tried we get a blue box across the screen when multiplayer skirmishes start. At times it freezes and crashes there, other times it will unfreeze and allow us to play with an occasional popup of the blue box and freezing, other times it is jerky with the box constantly popping up. Both of us are on wired connections and speeds for both upload and download seem solid. No dropped packets and about 32MS.

Any ideas? Is there something common or simple that is known but I'm not aware of that causes this?

Any help is appreciated!

For multiplayer you guys probably need to remove the "Hook_CockpitLook.dll". You're getting out-of-sync errors or something like that, right?

There is no error message and nothing that appears in the blue box. It's blank on both ends.

How do we remove the hook? As simple as finding it and deleting it? Sorry for what may be a simple question.

Yeah, just remove the file or put it somewhere else

Thanks. Will move it to another folder and see if it helps.

If that is the problem, is there anyway to make it multiplayer compatible or?

In MP, the game expects all the cameras from each player to be the same. If one is different, we'll get out-of-sync errors. If the cockpitlook hook is causing this, then I just need to revisit the hook and make sure that it's only modifying the cameras in single player mode.

Why would the game even transmit local camera information? Could this portion of the communication be suppressed?

1. Who knows? This game does a lot of weird things.
2. Sure, as soon as someone disassembles the networking code and creates the necessary hooks :P
