Try copying all the *.dat files from the resdata folder on your disk to your Resdata folder on your HD

I too am having cursor problems. It is gone. So I uninstalled everything and started from scratch and here is what I have found. The cursor works fine until I install the UCP, then it disappears. I started the game and checked it after each step listed below. I have tried copying all the DAT files again, but no go. What strikes me as strange is that sometimes it will be there, maybe 5% of the time, but mostly it is not.
So what I am wondering is this, maybe I am upgrading wrong. Here are my steps:
1. install XWA
2. install 2.02
3. install XWA installer
4. install UCP
5. install UCP mission fix
6. install ALL files fron the Dload page of this site, just to be sure I have everything updated to current releases.
I did not check it between UCP and UCP mission fix, but looking at the files I dont see how it would make a difference.
If I am installing this wrong please tell me so I can get this to work properly. Also, I am trying to run it in 1600x1200, but changing that to all settings did not help either.
I guess I should also ask, since I am installing everything from here, do I need to install the UCP and UCP mission fix?
[ 04 September 2007: Message edited by: gtfouts ]

Are you sure its the y-wing, what else have you installed before the y-wing?

DSUCP, and all XWAUP ships in alphabetically order(so thats mean theres some that i did'nt install), and i tested xwa after installing each ship and patch, so im pretty sure that the Y-Wing patch from your site that somehow cause a problem. maybe a configuration that shoulnd't be touched in the xwingalliance.exe file?
[ 17 September 2007: Message edited by: Rookie_One1 ]

You've installed everything basically, sorry but this is your problem, I'm not going through every single installer looking for a problem, just because your the only one that seems to be having this problem. Your going to have to be more specific with what you have installed.

Now can I ask you a few questions, why are you installing the Y-wing.exe when it's already in the DSUCP?

Why are you installing any other craft that is already in the UCP?

There is a list of craft on the UCP page that are in the UCP, plus there is a list of craft that are not in the UCP, only the craft listed should be installed.

Why your installing the UCP then every XWAUP craft seems a bit pointless.

i did it by reflex, when im reinstalling ,i was reinstalling all of it.
and i did test xwa after each ship installed, and its when i installed the y_wing

Sorry to bring up an old (well, not old, but not recent) thread, but it looks like he's right about the y-wing installer causing trouble.
My cursor vanished, but after repeating my install minus the Ywing, it seems ok. So far.
While I'm here.......how does the Corellian Corvette upgrade seem to everyone?
After a quick look in the tech database, the model seems to have a few vertexes along the sides that shouldn't be there.
Which is odd, since when I used the upgrade previously (a year or two ago, before my pc died and I lost all my data) I don't remember it having a problem. Though maybe I just didn't notice.

Mine as well! I had everything installed off this site and I had just updated my game with all the new ships posted on Mar 7. While I was playing, I noticed that he Lambda shuttle had reverted to its original non-XWAupgrade version. I reinstalled the lambda shuttle, then reinstalled the 1.1 E/S (default selection like the first time)and then my mouse pointer was gone. I had played many hours of XWA using the lambda with no problems so I suspect the problem may have to do with the JV-7 E/S installer.
Cheers and sorry I can't be of more help,
Fafnir_6

This is an after effect of installing so many craft patches,

I've just installed everything Fresh XWA 2.02 patch, DSUCP and Every Craft patch off this site

And yes the cursor disappeared

Solution

Open resdata.txt file found in you xwa DIR ignore all the
Resdata\Hull_Icons_???.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_???.dat
Resdata\ShipStuff???.dat

find

Resdata\LightingEffects.dat
Resdata\Backdrop.dat
Resdata\Galaxy.dat
Resdata\Nebula.dat
Resdata\Planet.dat
Resdata\Explosions.dat
Resdata\Sparks.dat
Resdata\Chaff.dat
Resdata\Debris.dat
Resdata\Animations.dat
Resdata\HUD.dat

and copy and paste it to the top
leave a couple of spaces and find

Resdata\Fonts.dat
Resdata\BlastMarks.dat
Resdata\DeathStarII.dat
Resdata\WrapBack.dat
Resdata\DSFire.dat
Resdata\Trails.dat
Resdata\Particles.dat
Resdata\FRONTEND.dat
Resdata\FRONTEND2.dat

copy and paste these lines underneath where you left the space

again find

Resdata\frontplanet.dat
Resdata\cursor.dat

and copy and paste to the last space

your text file should look something simular to this

Resdata\LightingEffects.dat
Resdata\Backdrop.dat
Resdata\Galaxy.dat
Resdata\Nebula.dat
Resdata\Planet.dat
Resdata\Explosions.dat
Resdata\Sparks.dat
Resdata\Chaff.dat
Resdata\Debris.dat
Resdata\Animations.dat
Resdata\HUD.dat
Resdata\Fonts.dat
Resdata\BlastMarks.dat
Resdata\DeathStarII.dat
Resdata\WrapBack.dat
Resdata\DSFire.dat
Resdata\Trails.dat
Resdata\Particles.dat
Resdata\FRONTEND.dat
Resdata\FRONTEND2.dat
Resdata\frontplanet.dat
Resdata\cursor.dat

leave these lines where they where right at the bottom, underneath all the

Resdata\Hull_Icons_???.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_???.dat
Resdata\ShipStuff???.dat
Resdata\ShipStuffUCP1.dat
Resdata\ShipStuffUCP2.dat
Resdata\ShipStuffUCP3.dat

Resdata\ShipStuffUCP5.dat
Resdata\Hull_Icons_UCP.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_UCP.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_Green.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_Red.dat

Resdata\Map_Icons_Blue.dat
Resdata\Map_Icons_Purple.dat
Resdata\Hull_Icons.dat

Problem solved

Thanks, DS.
My solution was simple, although yours is better for those who want the latest version of all craft.
All I did was not to double install anything but a couple of things like the new CRS, Escort shuttle, and Neb frigates. I didn't install every available craft, like the Y-wing off of DS's site.
Then it worked, but I may not have the latest versions of new craft, for example, so DS's solution would be best to stay up to date.

Is the problem with the mouse or something else?
If it's not the mouse it maybe worth starting a new topic now.

I attempted this, but now every time I start XWA, the game crashes.

(edit) I don't understand how to solve the problem. Perhaps if a working resdata.txt file was posted, I could use that instead.

I've tried Darsaber's solution repeatedly yet every time I do, the game crashes before it starts up. Could somone please post a "working" resdata.txt file on the forum?

PS: Sorry for double post, had to keep the thread current.

Yes, i also had that problem, but in my particular case the mouse and half of the concourse were gone...
If the solution DarkSaber posted works, it should be posted as a sticky.... that would help a lot of people before they post a new "missing cursor" thread.

I have the same problem too, and DS's fix didn't work. I made the mistake of installing all the XWAUP craft after the UCP. I thought it would just overwrite and not cause a problem. Guess I was wrong. But my roomate stumbled across a silly solution that has nothing to do with XWA lol. Just turn on the option that makes it so when you press control, it tells you where your cursor is with a little target circle. That is visible in game. Hahaha.

Key
Lines moved to the top
New added lines
These lines HAVE to say at the bottom

The lines are added for a reason otherwise I wouldn't have bothered adding them, so DON'T delete them!!

X-Wing Install System works on the premisses that you are using an international version of the game, an international version has a file called XWA.tab included with it. If it doesn't have this file X-Wing Install System adds this file and places exactly the same lines within this file.

I'm not going to explain anymore, as basically I can't be arsed, other than if you had followed my instructions in the first place you wouldn't be having these problems.

It has been explained in the past, if your are new to this game and haven't followed this forum for the past 9 years then basically you've missed the boat and!
