At this point I'd say the model is 90% done Need to complete the bow hangar section and add some more detail here and there. Currently I'm at about 5k faces.

Looking Good General!!!!<P>Can't wait to send a torpedo at this things bridge and make it go BOOM! <P>Question: Roughly how long do you think it will take to texture this thing? For those who didn't see the post on massassi: I'm playing with the thought of making a second version that's shrunk down to 8km for cmopatibility reasons and people who don't know about the mission fix.<P>Can't really say how long it'll take. It's one of the most complex models I've ever made. While there are some textures I can port over from other models I've made, there'll be enough rather complex ones that'll take some time.<p>[ 19 February 2007: Message edited by: General_Trageton ]

Excellent idea about a second 8km model. I know that many want the canon 17.6 km model but the 8km model is more exciting for this reason. The speeds of the xwa ships are not canon, they are way too slow. Flying along the entire length of the 17.6 km ship takes ages and reduces the dramatic impact of the game. IMHO! Anyway with both models we get to choose.

On the globes - wouldn't it be roughly the same number of polys to model the actual shape instead of using a generic sphere and trying to texture it on?

Photo textures! Like the asteroids. How to do it for the whole ship? Combine them with normal textures? Anyways, you seem to be already raising the standard another notch.<P>Quite clever too. Those will also give you room to breathe when it comes to faces.<P>-Morpheous-
