--- Continuing "The Hunt (BoAS 2) --
Vince blinked and looked around. It seemed as if he had been asleep and for a moment he had trouble making up where he was. He was on a bridge. From the looks it had to be the Traquia.
The crew seemed in busy excitement.
He could remember that they were preparing to repel the Sangheili attack on New Cophuran. Everything that had happened since then seemed lost in a dark nebula. They were still in battle. He shook off the dizziness and tried to assess the overal situation on the displays.
"Status, captain!"
"We've lost two frigates, but our lines are holding. Dominance reports successful breach of enemy formations. They're standing their ground well."
That actually didn't sound too bad after all. Looking at the display, however, he frowned. The fleet had split up in a rather exotic looking maneuver, none he had ever executed - or known - before. The enemy fleet was in disarray and losing ground. Some heavily damaged ships were already fleeing the battlefield. Whatever had happened in the past ... minutes? hours? ... something or someone had watched over them with care.
Vince!
He shuddered.
"Wiggins, any contact with the empress or Admiral Janson yet?"
"Negative, Sir." the comm chief replied. "I think Admiral Janson got into a skirmish with the Sangheili himself. No word from the empress yet."
The Bermuda Passage. Vince shuddered. Why from all the places in the galaxy did Wes have to get stuck there? Vince and Shiromy knew of the corrupting power that lurked between the dark clouds. They had fallen to it once. Maybe twice now.
"Thank you, keep trying!"
Help me!
He shuddered again. Shiromy was in danger. Somebody had to look for them, and get them out of that cloud as soon as possible. He couldn't leave while that battle was raging. After a quick thought he keyed in a high security contact channel and the flickering image of young woman lit up before him.
"Hello Mryna, I need your help!"
-----------------
With a furious scream of her twelve thrusters, the Black Scorpion blasted out of the stardock and headded for open space. For a moment Mryna Qhalic watched the distant flashes of explosions, where the two fleets were engaged in mortal combat. But there were more important matters for her to attend to right now. She left the system behind and a few moments later the combat yacht lept into hyperspace.
She cursed. Somehow - be it gravitational anomalies, bad navigation or simply bad luck - Admiral Janson had managed to catapult his flagship into on e of the most dangerous places in the whole blasted universe. While the radioactive hazards were of considerable relevance, it was rather the mind-corrupting power originating from the abandoned 'artifact'. And somebody like Empress Shiromy with all her psychic feats was extremely vulnerable to this power. The clock was ticking.
-----------------
Shiromy was lying on the cold floor. Her eyes were open, but she could not see. All around her was complete darkness. There was no sound but her own heart hammering irregularly. She could not move - paralyzed.
Vince! she called silently. Somebody!

Commodore Belac reached a hand up to wipe away a trail of blood that threatened to blur his vision. The Gambit had taken a brace of the vicious plasma torpedos the enemy favored. Half of the bridge viewports were now blackedned from where the shields had barely stopped one aimed at the command tower. Outside, parts of the superstructure were glowing or venting air, though flames were burng out as blast doors cut off their supply of oxygen. Bastion had taken a more severe pounding, and the Colossus class vessel was now adrift. There was no contact with Captain Mira or the bridge, so Belac had to assume she had been killed. Elsewhere, glittering points of light marked the flights of swordfish interceptors, Boanerges bombers, and Tie Avengers, all weaving through enemy formations. He waved at the comm officer again, hoping that either General Trageton or Captain Hann would finally respond. Admiral Janson too was out of touch. The Commodore hated not knowing what was going on.
---
A bright flash of light flared just as the Kearsage decanted into normal space. And into the middle of a battle. Cantwell, her sister ship, had just fired her primary cannon, vaporizing an enemy dreadnought. Two more were to either side of the commandeered vessel, beseiging her. Commodore Stewart was torn. On one hand, Nimziki was an enemy. On the other, his mission was to retrieve the vessel and rogue Admiral, not let them be destroyed. He made a snap call. "All hands, battle stations. Cannon Prime, target the far dreadnought."
---
The battle had been strangely short. by the time the Oriskany had reached the edge of the nebula, the Sangheli fleet had jumped away.
"Well, it's the short battles that are always the most successful." Joyeuse commented from here Holonet pad.
"But why did they just leave?" Captain Cox asked.
"I know that. It's simple."
Admiral Janson was intrigued. "What do you mean?"
"They are afraid of this place. they call it the Graveyard. Partially because of the nebula, but because one of their prize fleetmasters was driven mad and turned on his own fleet, destroying it. From what that demented little blerns-ball told me, the station causes it. It was meant to be a defense outpost of some sort, but an experiment went wrong. Now it gives off some sort of signal that affects all sentient beings nearby. The nebula is another side effect of the breakdown."
Janson nodded. "I've noticed the effects."
"I wonder if it affects people differently, people who are more open to mental powers." Cox ventured.
"You mean like a Jedi?" Joyeuse chirped.
"Stop poking around our computers for now." growled Cox.
"Or Lady Shiromy. I heard her voice in my head, when we disabled the station." Janson commented.
{i]"The station was testing neuroelectric power augmentation, among other things."[/i]
"What?" Cox frowned. "What does that mean?"
Chief Lindy, from the Science department, poked her head out of the crew pit. "Sir, from the readings we took, it looks like the station was meant to do two things. First, to serve as a defense outpost. It's well armed and shielded, and if it wasn't so old, it could easily destroy us. Second, the entire design looks like it is meant to boost the mental powers of an individual. for a normal person, that would give a dramatic increase in intelligence and multi-tasking. for someone like a Jedi or telepath, it could concievably boost those abilities. The nebula itself seems to be artificial, and specially designed to enhance the effect. The stuff unfortunately jams up normal communications real bad."
"Thank you Chief." Janson nodded at her. "So the question is what now. Do we go back to the station, and if so, do we try to retrieve Lady Shiromy, or destroy the station?"

OOC: not sure if my post will fit in but i can change it so it does, let me know if its good ;)
---------
Andrew and a few swat team men were walking through a dark corridor keeping quiet. The Imperials would hear them if they were too loud. 2nd in command Johnson moved forward and whispered, “We got two contacts around the corner, easy bastards only armed with E-11s we can take them out.”
“Anyone else near by?”
“Not that my sensors are picking up but they could be beyond the door ahead, doubt they will hear us.”
“Ok move in one wrong move though and this mission is over and we will need to get off this ship fast.”
“Understood.” Johnson moved around the corner quickly and fired several times only injuring one of the troopers. The rest of the swat team also moved around and opened fire at the troopers. Andrew followed behind then and nailed one of the troopers right in between the eyes. The two fell to the ground, Johnson moved forward and checked the area to make sure it was clear. His sensor didn’t pick anyone up on the other side of the door. “We’re clear.” Andrew let out a sigh of relief and the other swat men lowered their weapons.
“So what’s our status now?” Johnson took out his portable computer and read through some messages that popped up.
“We are still in hyperspace still unknown as to where though. We are on the lowest level and closing in to the reactor of the Star Destroyer. Once we exit hyperspace we move in kill any workers and plant the bombs and find a way out of here. Hanger will probably be too well defended we will need to find an escape pod maybe.” The ship started to shake a lot, “Looks like were exiting hyperspace sooner than I anticipated. We need to move.” Johnson was cut off by the sounds of fire all around.
“What the hell is going on here? We exited into a battle?”
“Sounds like it, maybe the hanger might be the place to escape now, there will be confusion in there and we can sneak in and steal a shuttle.” Andrew didn’t listen to what Johnson was saying he was thinking about the battle, there is no way that this ship took off on its own there will be more as of right now they were trapped, if those other ships saw a shuttle leaving a Star Destroyer as it blew up wouldn’t it be suspicious? The fire stopped.
“That was quick” Andrew thought out loud. Johnson looked at him.
“They must have been here just to clean up.” Not good Andrew thought.

OOC: hmmm, not completely, but maybe it can be tied in somehow.
IC:
Warhammer and her task force of heavy Inferno 2 Battleships and Phoenix Cruisers tore through the UPMF formation with relentless resolve. The crimson beams from the her omega arrays delivered serious damage to the enemy's corvettes and frigates.
On the bridge a Dhilani Captain observed the battle with cold-blooded serenity. Would he admit it or not - war was the way of the Dhilani. At least it had become.
Alyn Yadrec's new flagship seemed to be an awkward looking hybrid between a Phoenix Cruiser and something undefinable, slightly organically shaped. An ugly ship, even to somebody with only a minimum sense for aesthetics.
"Dallon, what do the sensors tell about that ship?"
"Not much sir," the man said. "Whatever it is, the sensors cannot get further than the dust on its hull.
No good. There was a ship that to their sensors was not much more than a hull.
"Keep trying. If they have any surprise in store for us, I want to know." And he was sure they had. In the years he had struggled against this lunatic warlord alongside Trageton he had surely perceived a new view of the word vicious.
"Send out Meggar squad to get some short range readings of that ship. If necessary prepare a stealth boarder to scan it from the inside. And let's not waist too much time with those pawns. I have the feeling we shouldn't stay out here too long."
He was beginning to dislike this battle.
----------------
In short delay six fusion cannon blasts roared through space and hit a trio of Sangheli Dreadnaughts with lethal precission. They were the primary defense ring of what appeared to be the enemy's flagship.
"Traquia to Roscha, how's your status?"
"We're doing fine. The fodder squadrons are doing their job well."
"Good. Stay back a little so we can get the field cleaned up. Once you have a clear shot, fire at that flagship, our omega arrays will support you, together we should manage to bring that flagship down.
"Very good." Mako replied. "Is ... everything OK?" There was something odd in his tone. As if he knew about the odd events of recent.
"I'm not sure." Vince admitted. "I'm worried."
"Worried?"
Vince shook his head. There was no time for such kind of explainations at the moment. "Let's get this battle won as soon as possible."
Hurry up, Mryna! he thought.
----------------
There was a flash and a scream, as the Black Scorpion entered realspace.
A cold shiver down Mryna's spine as she faced the blackness of the Bermuda cluster dead ahead. Every now and then a lonesome lightning struck through the dark nebula. It was actually amazing how one of the brightest elements of all could be so effectless around here.
She switched her comm to a long range broadcast frequency that would probably be strong enough to pierce through a black hole.
"This is Combat Yacht Black Scorpion to any vessel in the vicinity. Come in!"
Nothing.
"Repeat, this is Combat Yach Black Scorpion to any vessel in the vicinity, please come in!"
She had to move quickly. The longer Lady Shiromy was exposed to this .... thing the greater the danger grew in which she was.
Mryna knew where she had to look. The Nebula was not really big. A few thousand kilometers from one side to side to the other. She transferred maximum power to the engines and the Black Scorpion moved deeper into the darkness.
[ 17 May 2006: Message edited by: General_Trageton ]

Mako closed the com with Trageton and stroked his beard, something was definatly wrong bvut it would have to wait for now. "Power up the main cannon and target the enemy flagship. Inform me when we have a clear shot."
"Isn't the main cannon overkill?" asked Rocha who'd been sitting in his chair during the entire battle.
Mako half turned towards her. "Better Safe. I want Myax and Youngkrull ready to defend the ship after we fire."
Xandra looked up from her station when she heard that. "Youngkrull? If Trageton freaked at the sight of our ship, He's really gonna freak when he sees Youngkrull's true form."
"Better people freaking out there than my crew dying in here."
K'shar turned in her seat at the helm. "Mako, Trageton's forces have given us a clear shot at the flagship."
"Well we don't have time to negotiate in a civilized manner, Destroy it!"
The lights on the giant Stardestroyer went out as a surge of Bluegreen energy traveled down the center axis of the ship. After culminating at the bow of the ship for a split second a large laser beam was fired ripping the Sangheli Flagship effectivly in half.
From the hanger several squadrons of fighters launched and formed a perimeter around the Roscha.
Alone figure stood on the edge of the Hanger opening looking out into space waiting.
[ 21 May 2006: Message edited by: Mako ]

The debris from their flagship slowly drifted to join that of several smaller escort dreadnoughts. It took several moments, but it was decided that Shipmaster 'Venkatree was the senior commander, thus he assumed the role of Fleetmaster.
"We cannot allow them to corrupt our fleet with their weapons any further. They have the power to destroy even our most powerful vessels. We must act fast to cleanse this galaxy of these dangers. All ships, move to engage close range. Pick a target, and move to a shiplngth of it. do not allow the enemy to use their primary cannons without fear of destroying their own."
The silver warships dispatched half their fighters ahead to meet the new screens the enemy had launched. The other half remained on board. One after another, the ships lit up with massive energies, and a rift formed ahead of them, which they sailed into. Moments later, they returned to normal space at precise locations arrayed through the defending fleets. A quartet of the remaining dreadnoughts surrounded the Traquia while the other three clustered around the stern of Roscha. Before the startled fighter screens could react, more than a dozen were vaporized by bolts of plasma. The Sanghelli ships launched the remainder of their fighters and bombers, and loaded troop craft and boarding torpedos. Plasma torpedos glittered and launched, tearing into and through defense shields. Exploiting gaps, the smaller craft flitted through gaps in the shield to fire on exposed weapons and sensor clusters.

Admiral Sarah Phaley sat silently on the bridge of DHC Dominance and watched the distant battle raging. The Sangheli fleet had made a micro-jump right in between the ESS ships. Laser beams and projectiles of all sizes and colos tore through space, shields and armor platings. The Traquia stood her ground well, but Phaley knew how much Trageton despised close combat.
As had he read her thoughts a red light on her right arm panel blinked. Incoming encrypted transmission from high command.
"Dominance, how's your status?"
"we're in position and awaiting orders. Cloaking device at 100%"
"Good. Launch a sacrifice craft and remain cloaked!"
"Copy that, command." She acknowledged and cave flight control a wave. "launching sacrifice craft now."
Moments later small craft launched from the second flagship's main hangar. Remote controlled it carried a lifeless body and a powerful reactor, designed for a single purpose - sacrifice. Quickly the small craft, not bigger than a light freighter took on speed and moved towards the battlefield.
-----------------
Meanwhile, aboard the Traquia Vince observed the battlefield with grimserenity. "All ships, navigate to get a clear escape vector. Perform a micro-jump in thirty seconds!" Then he closed his eyes.
A moment later the seemingly dead body aboard the small craft awoke to life, as Vince's spirit entered its mind. Sitting in the small cockpit Vince took a moment to assess his surroundings, then proceeded witht he next phase of his plan. Controlling a ship's energy was no big effort by now and soon Vince had merged with the ship's reactor. His eyes narrowed. The explosion would not cause as much damage as the former Dhilani Flagship Warlord once had, but it would suffice to cause some losses and render the enemy in confusion, giving the Dominance and the opportunity to re-enter the battle.
Filled up with energy he leaned back and watched the battle coming closer. In a few seconds the ships would perform a microjump, maybe a hundred kilometers far, and get out of the explosion's range. IC2 Mystique and Barrath were surrounded by numerous Sangheli ships and showed severe damage. They probably wouldn't make it in time. As the sacrifice ship entered the chaos, the ESS ships and the Roscha lit up and disappeared, just to re-appear in visible distance. When Vince was right in the center of the confused Sangheli formations he closed his eyes and for a moment touched the minds of the Sangheli around him. "You should not have come here. Now pay the price for your brazenness" The words he spoke travelled empty space and were heard by every Sangheli on the battlefield. Stearing to the left he moved right into a close formation of Dreadnaughts, seconds later his mind left the doomed body.
Vince soul returned to his own body aboard the Traquia just in time to watch the four dreadnaughts disappear in a growing ball of white energy. Shocked by the sudden explosion the other ships in the vicinity tried to move away from the shockwave but still two of the slower dreadnaughts were caught and at least considerably crippled. Vince smiled. The Sangheli fleet was now arranged in a circula formation around the explosion area. All around them, with a distance of maybe 50-80 km was sat the ESS fleet in a perfect circle - except for a single gap of maybe a dozen kilometers width.A moment later the gap disappeared as the Dominance decloaked, all weapons directed towards the enemy.
Vince opened a broadcast channel to the Sangheli fleet.
"Leave while you can. I will give you this one chance. Leave and never come back!"
-----------------
"Flagship Oriskany, do you copy? This is ESS Combat Yacht Black Scorpion. Please come in!"
Mryna cursed. Despite being small the Bermuda cluster could turn out of as a Labyrinth in all that Darkness.
Suddenly her stomach seemed to scream. Instinctively she tore the yoke towards her and the Scorpion barely evaded the corpse of a heavy starship that drifted to space. So much for those sensors! she thought. Increasing the nitensity she examined the ship she ahd almost hit. With a sigh of relief she noted that it was not the Oriskany. But where was it then? Hitting a button on her rigth control panel she dispatched a very special mine. She pushed the thrusters to maximum to get uot of the explosion perimeter, as moments later a heavy shockwave rocked the environment and literally blew away the black fog around it, giving a bit of view. Mryna swallowed hard to the sight that was revealed. Dead ships everywhere. In an area of a few dozen cubic kilometers there were maybe twenty or thirty wrecks, but it was clearly not from the radiation of this area. There had been a battle - not too long ago - and these ships, whoever they were, had obviously been on the loosing end.
She once more increased the signal strength of sensors and comm system.
"Flagship Oriskany, do you copy? This is ESS Combat Yacht Black Scorpion. Please come in!"
-----------------
Shiromy was growing weaker. She felt tired, too. Probably there was a leak somewhere and theoxygen was gettign thin. Or the ventilation systems had failed.
She didn't mind. She just wanted to sleep.

'Venkatree considered his options. There was no way to defeat the enemy fleet with his forces, but to simply retreat after taking so many losses was unthinkable. The enemy must be cleansed. He gave the order.
The entire remainder of the fleet turned and again lept into subspace.
---
Belac was not happy with the unexpected. The dissappearnace of an entire enemy fleet, especially one that could make precision jumps certainly qualified. From what he could tell, the enemy would not simply retreat, especially after the losses they had suffered. The remains of the flagship still clung to life, despite being split in two, and guns and torpedos lashed out at nearby ships, swipes of an annoyed but mortally wounded giant. The Corellian ships returned fire sporadicly, but concentrated on regrouping and recovering EV pilots.
---
Simultaneously, the various fleets began to pick up energy bursts and distress calls, coming from the far side of the planet.
---
"ESSCY Black Scorpion, this is Oriskany. Repeating yourself every thirty seconds isn't going to make your signal any clearer."
Mryna sat up. Finally a response, if not quite what she expected. She had always assumed that the crew on Janson's flagship would at least be halfway polite. "We've been sent to find you, Oriskany. Who am I speaking to?"
"I'm Joyeuse, Oriskany's AI. The humans are all busy debating an important issue, which is why they didn't notice your first twenty messages. Can I take a message?"
"Message?" Myrna exploded. "And since when does Oriskany have an AI? Put one of the crew on the line!"
"I'm sort of new to the crew, actually, but I think the Admiral appreciates having me here. Patching you through for holo-comm."
It took a moment, but Janson materialized as a quarter sized hologram. "Black Scorpion, we have a bit of a situation here. Lady Shiromy is trapped on a derelect station which has affected her, and is now somehow linked to her. We had to disable the station to stop her, but it may have had an effect on her too. We are deciding whether to risk retrieving her, or whether we may have to simply destroy the station."

'YOU WHAT?!?' would have been Mryna's response of choice in this moment, as she glared in disbelief at the holographic image of Admiral Janson. But instead she bit her teeth and tried to stay formal.
"That's a negative on destroying, Admiral. I have clear orders from ESS supreme command to retrieve Empress Shiromy at any cost."
"I understand Vince's concerns, but as long as this station exists poses a threat, to us and to the rest of the galaxy."
"You can't do this!" Mryna protestd. "This is not some poor soldier stuck on that station. We're talking about Empress Shiromy here. She has travelled to Corellia to ensure the good relation between our two empires. Do you want to risk these relations now because of a malfunctioning weapons platform?"
"The situation has changed." Janson said defendingly. "Lady Shiromy has already killed the first rescue team that was sent to retrieve her. And this is not a mere weapons..."
"Admiral, with all due respect, but we have been here a few times more often than you. Since the time is running already I will put it short: You can assist me or you leave it, but I can not allow you to destroy that station with Lady Shiromy aboard." She frowned. Wow, that was a little over the
top, wasn't it?
"Miss Qhalic, I do not believe that you are in a position to allow or deny us anything."
"Believe whatever you want, Sir. I will rescue Empress Shiromy, whether you help me or not. If you are, however, interested in a continuing good relation between the ESS and the CE you will not stand in my way."
"I won't hold you back." Janson said with an awkward calmnes. "I will even provide you with the exact coordinates. You have fifteen minutes."
----------------
"This ## Cophira-Ci##. We ##re under ###vy att#ck. we### h##ve taken hea## loss##, ####peat ### heavy los############## -"
Vince cursed when he heard the distress call from the planet. He would not have thought those aggressors would be that vicious. For a moment he considered moving his spirit aboard one of the enemy dreadnaughts and destroy the entire fleet from the inside. A diamond Station would be nice now! he thought.
"Damnit, how did that happen? Vacter?"
"Those bastards are quick. I had noticed an energy drop in Cophira-City's shields a few before they lept into subspace. They must've picked it up and instantly reacted to it.
As if they were desparately seeking for something to lay their revenge upon. Vince thought. Pathetic! "I won't play along chasing them around. Dominance, take the fleet and perform a micro jump to the far side of the planet. Roscha and We will stay on this side if they should come back. Destroy what you can!"
Moments later the spear-like super star destroyer and the other ships turned and disappeared, leaving the Traquia alone in space.
"If they won't leave in honor, they shall die in shame!"
----------------
The battle was going too well, Rhitargo thought. The UPMF ships fell to the ESS' brutal attack as if they were mere fodder craft. This is all a faint! the Dhilani thought.
"Give me High Command!" He ordered the comm offcier and moments later the hologramm of General Trageton appeared.
"The offensive is going well, Sir. Too well for my taste. I have the feeling it might be a faint to distract us from something else."
"Are you sure about this?" Trageton's expression was dark, very dark.
"I am, Sir."
"Then return to new Cophuran at once." Trageton replied. "Have your fleet join me at the stardock, Warhammer will move diectly to the far side and assist DHC Dominance. Leave noone allive."
Rhitargo frowned - as a Dhilani could. "Sir?"
"No time for explainations. Do it!"
Rhitargo nodded, "Sir", and the hologramm disappeared.
[ 22 May 2006: Message edited by: General_Trageton ]

Mako had followed Trageton's wishes and gone to the far side of the planet. The main systems were still down due to the opperation of the main cannon. "How much longer until we get sheilds and weapons back online?"
Roscha looked at the counsel attached to the Command chair that she'd been occupying since the battle started. "It'll be another minute before power is restored."
"Damn! That's too long a lucky shot could pierce our hull and make us all dead in another second. If I'd have known that these Sangheili weren't going to give in after that display of power I'dve never used the cannon."
"Mako, Youngkrull's still waiting to go out."
I'd like to send him out there, but can we afford the added attention. Mako thought to himself. If people saw what he really was then the Keepers wouldn't be our only problem.
"Mako!" Roscha called out again. Shaken out of his train of thought Mako gave her a puzzled look. "Youngkrull?"
"Give him the ok I want him planetside helping out the Coruphani forces down there. And tell him to keep himself a reasonable size. We don't need our current allies freaking outthere and trying to put holes in his scaley hide."
----------------------------------------------
Youngkrull smiled to himself when he recieved the message from Roscha from down in the hanger bay. Hitting the comm he made a call.
"Myax dis is Youngkrull, you free?"
"Yeah for the moment."
"Good I need a ride."
"Be there in five."
Cutting the link Youngkrull ran to the end of the hanger and lept through the shields. Right on que Myax's fighter sped by at top speed. Catching hold of the fighter's fusalage Youngkrull held on as the craft made its way towards New Coruphan. A soon as the fighter hit the atmosphere Youngkrull gave Myax a saulute. released his hold of the craft and continued his decent. Finally shedding his human guise, He pinned his wings to his back and used his tail to guide him towards the area where could see the fighting was the fiercest. Selecting what he figured was the heart of the enemy forces, Youngkrull dove straight for them and impacted.

It was still unknown as to where the Star Destroyer was going. Johnson was keeping in touch with Andrew’s newly acquired VSD thanks to Wolf and Canthas. There were still republic markings on it probably left over from the Clone Wars. Andrew’s team kept moving quietly though out the lower levels of the ship. Andrew broke away from the group to check out a near by room the door opened and there was a window in it, an office of some sort. Andrew looked out and to his amazment he saw Corellia in the distance. They were pretty far away from it but he was sure a ship like a Star Destroyer was visible from stations around Corellia. Andrew kept looking around and could see ships all around. Johnson entered the room,
“We got a problem we’re at Corellia”
“That cant be we heard the ship firing at something why would it be firing in this sector.”
“I don’t know yet but im sure it had to do with the ships out there. Listen we got to move fast before something happens we’ll split the team up you and a few go to the hanger and try to get onboard a ship me and a few others will plant the bomb and get the hell out. Got it?” Johnson nodded and they moved out.

Mako stood next to Xandra and watched the reports as Youngkrull made his decent planetside and cut a swath through the Sangheili Forces. "Well now that he's down there let's hope they don't haveanything strong enough to put holes in his Black scaly hide."
Stroking his beard he turned back towards Roscha in the command chair. "Didn't I tell Garabald to get here ASAP? Where the hell is he?"
Roscha punched in a few keys on the chair's arm counsel. "I'm picking up the Kiros' transponder signal, you're not gonna like this."
"What's wrong?"
"It's on it's way here, and it's not alone."
"What do you mean not alone?"
"It should be at Trageton's posistion in a matter of seconds."
"Good, this area's too hot anyway and it'll be another thirty seconds before we can defend ourselves properly. K'shar!"
K'shar waved at Mako "I'm on it."
---------------------
A few seconds later The Roscha entered realspace just a little ways away from the Traquia. Mako watched out the view ports as Roscha counted down the remaining ten seconds left before the Kiros was supposed to exit hyperspace. When the count reached zero Mako and the rest of his crew watched as not only the Kiros exited hyperspace. The remainder of his fleet the Miran, Chakra, and the Shinru exited with it as well. The Miran and the Shinru were both heavily damaged and venting atmosphere. The latter was being towed by the former with the use of speacially made magseal harpoons used to haul away disabled ships. Mako was about to call over to the Miran to see what the hell had happened when something else exited Hyperspace, something that froze the marrow in his bones solid. It was a lone ship the same size as the Roscha with a black and red blistered hull. A battlecruiser of The Keepers. Mako stumbled back in shocked horror.
No, no, no , they will not have me again. They will not have me. NO! NEVER AGAIN!NEVER!!!
Abandoning all he'd been taught of control Mako lashed out with a phsychic shockwave that shredded the battlecruiser virtually to atoms. Breathing hard from an exertion he'd not made in quite some time Mako found Roscha helping him to stand. After he had caught his breath, Mako made eye contact with Xandra. "Get over to the Miran, ensure that your husband is safe, and find out what the hell went wrong."

"Joyeuse, is there any way to adjust our signal so we can communicate outside the nebula?"
The hologram frowned, having resumed her place on the holocomm pad after the awkward conversation with miss Qhalic.
"Actually, yes, I think I can get you a signal out. It won't be very pretty, but it should work."
Cox looked impressed. "Are there any more AIs like you? We could use them in the other major ships." Janson hid a smile at his flag captain's change of heart on their uninvited computer program.
"Put me through to General Trageton." Joyeuse vanished, and a scratchy image of his old friend replaced her. "General. It's good to see you again."
Trageton looked surprised. "Admiral! Did you manage to get out of the nebula safely?"
"Actually, I'm still here. We have a bit of a situation, which your people are not helping with." Janson sighed. This was not going to be a pleasant conversation.
"What do you mean, Wes, and how are you managing to communicate from within the nebula?" Trageton asked. the signal lost resolution and then returned.
"On your second question, we picked up a new crew member who upgraded our systems." He could see the AI looking smug in her new perch on a targeting holopad. "There have been several problems. first is the fact that one of your envoys threatened to cut relations between the ESS and Corellia."
"WHAT!" It was rare to see Trageton surprised. "Explain."
Janson paused. "the short summary is that the nebula was created a long time ago as part of a defense station, designed to fight an ancient enemy. The station worked with telepathy, but over the years began to malfunction. Now it increases negative emotions and paranoia. We've pulled back, but I can feel it from here. Lady Shiromy wanted to board the station, and joined my investigation team. Once aboard, the station seems to have linked with her, and she killed my men. We disabled the station, but the feedback seems to have knocked her out. We tried to retrieve her, but she killed that team as well. According to information I have recieved, if we cannot stop this station, it could be used to kill anyone or everyone it wanted for several hundred light years. We may have to destroy it. I'm sorry, Vince."
The general looked stunned, and then pulled himself together. "Can you hold off on that for a moment?" Wes nodded. "How does that relate to Mryna trying to cut the ties between us?"
"I explained the situation to her, and she decided to assume command of the situation here and dictate orders, and threatened that anything we did could harm relations with the ESS. Honestly, I'm not going to hold it against you. Alysonn would likely hve done the same thing."
"What happened?"
"She told me she was going to retrieve the Empress, whether I helped or not. I gave her fifteen minutes. She has..." Janson looked at the chrono, "four minutes left."
Vince looked sick. "You can't destroy the station, Wes."
"Vince, I know what she means to you." His voice picked up a harder edge. "But this thing could reach Corellia and kill every living person there. I can't let this kind of threat exist."
"Wes..." Trageton growled.
"I would do the same if any of my people were in her place. Hell, I'd hope someone would do the same if I was the one the station took over. But even though we are friends, you do not dictate terms to me. I've done you plenty of favors, even given you those planets you parked on. But you can't aske me for this. Not when Corellia could be wiped clean of life. If this rescue mission fails, the station is going down. Even if i have to have Kearsage come and do it the hard way."

"Lady Shiromy!"
Mryna cursed as she looked on her chrono. Four more minutes. Janson was insane. And this station was bigger than she had thought.
Then her eyes widened. Her bio-scanner picked up something, maybe a fifty meters away. Weak, but it was there. She started to walk faster, almost ran. Her night vision goggles provided a barely adequate view of her surrounding. She was running down a corridor that would lead into a fairly large dome-like chamger. And in the very center...
"Shiromy!" She gasped as she saw the unmoving figure lying on the ground. She raced forward and knelt down to the seemingly lifeless body. "Mylady, can you hear me?"
A wave of relief shot through Mryna as the woman's shivering eyes opened. "...who...?"
"It's me, Mryna!" She said. "are you all right?" Dumb question, actually, since she obviously wasn't.
"Don't ... be afraid" the empress whispered and passed out. Mryna cursed again. Damnit, don't you die on me just now! She grabbed her comm. "Admiral Janson, this is Mryna Qhalic. I have found Lady Shiromy, but she is unconcious. I need a medic or something. At least hold your fire for a little while longer!"
Only static distortions as response. She'd need a wonder.
I will help you, as you help me.
"Mylady?!?" Mryna shook her head. The woman was still unconcious. But she had heard her voice - as clearly as could be. Mryna shuddered. Suddenly her skin began to prickle and she felt dizzy.
Don't resist, Mryna! Her voice was in her head.
"What are you...?" Mryna muttered.
It's alright, Mryna. I can get us out of here. Just trust me
Suddenly Mryna had doubts it had been a good idea coming here.
Trust me, be not afraid! Then darkness fell.
....
Mryna blinked and shook her head. What had happened?
"I have to apologize." She whirled around - bad idea, she noticed, as the quick movement made her dizzy.
"Milady!" she gasped as she saw the woman standing right in front of her - fully recovered as it seemed. "What....?"
"I normally don't do this - especially not to people I trust -, but I had no choice."
"I don't understand." Mryna muttered.
She waved a hand. "Come, I will tell you on our way out." Automatically Mryna followed her empress.
"My powers are linked to my mind, not my body." Shiromy explained as they hurried through the station. "But whatever had happened after this ion blast, it had paralyzed my body so I had no more direct control over them. When I recognized you I have gathered what was left of my concentration and transferred my spirit into your body."
"I heard your voice..."
"Yes ... like I said, I normally don't do this to people trust and respect. But it was our only chance to get away from here in time. For a short moment I have taken control of your body and - with full access to my powers have restored my own health."
"I ... understand" Mryna said. She looked at her chrono. "10 seconds, we won't make it!"
"We will," Shiromy said in a oddly serene voice. "I have made sure of that. Soon the Oriskany will experience a temporary failure of their weapon systems."
Mryna frowned. "Not to be disrespectfuly, but couldn't you just have contacted Admiral Janson to tell him to hold their fire?"
The empress grinned. "Janson is a bullhead just like Vince. If he gets something in his head, it will stay there no matter what."
Suddenly the ground rocked and Mryna barely managed to keep her balance. With shock she head the rumbling of distant explosions.
"Damnit, they've started! How can that be??" Shiromy looked puzzled.
Mryna shook her head. "Must be that new AI of theirs. It seemed very sophisticated and independant."
"Aw great!" Shiromy commented shortly. "We have to hurry then."
They started running.
After a few moments the individual shocks ha, turned into a constant tremor, as both women ran through the destabilizing station.
"Luckily this station is big enough to take a while to destroy, even for the Oriskany."
Mryna commented trying to keep her breath. When she had arrived she hadn't realized the way to the hangar being that long.
"If that AI is really that smart," the empress said "it will hopefully realize there's two life forms trying to make it to the hangar and won't start firing there."
After a few more corners and evading collapsing support beams they finally reached the hangar where the Black Scorpion was waiting hot and running.
[ 26 November 2006: Message edited by: General_Trageton ]

Xandra had wasted no time in making her way off the the Roscha to the Miran, now she ran as fast as she could through the familiar corridors not stopping till she reached the bridge. She was greeted by her old friend Alaan when she got there. "What's the situation over here Alaan?"
Alaan took a breath to steady herself. "As I'm sure you could see from your trip over here both the Shinru and this ship are suffering from several hull breeches, most of our systems are damaged or down completely, And our entire comoplement of fighter squadrons have been depleted."
Xandra had gotten a good look at the sorry state of the Miran's crew while Alaan had rattled off what was wrong with ships. Putting her gaze back on her friend Xandra took a deep breath before asking. "Where is Wolf?"
Alaan steadied herself for a moment before answering, and even still after doing so she answered with a shaky voice. "Wolf, Davis, and Raynes are all in critical condition. Right now they're in the medical bay, but it doesn't look good."
Xandra held back the tears that threatened to well up in her eyes and clenched her fist a few times to get her rage under control. "Tell me just what happened here and why aren't you guys in the Tango sector?"
Alaan took a second to collect her thoughts before retelling the events that led them there. *
--------------
Mako was waiting for Xandra's call from the Miran When Garabald contacted him. "Sorry for taking so long to get here, but as you can see we had some stragglers to pick up."
"Yeah stragglers and then some." Mako answered back in a slightly dangerous tone.
"Hey Mako I had no idea they were being chased by Keepers, but they were in bad shape and barely holding on when I found them just out of the United Planets' territories. I couldn't just leave our friends. The Keepers must've hypered in just before we made our jump and then followed us from there."
Mako let out a breath "Yeah that must be what happened."
Garabald waited a second before speaking up again. "So what's the deal here?"
"The deal, is that we are currently helping General Trageton with a little pest control."
As if on que another transmission came in, this one from Trageton. Mako could only guess what it was that the General wanted to talk to him about. He would just have to answer Trageton's questions without giving too much away, current and future relations could very well depend on those answers.

Vince would have cursed about the absolute chaos of events - Wes' pigheadedness, the Sangheli's vicious and cowardly backstroke or the confusion that had emerged just now by the arrival and instant destruction of that new cruiser -, if he hadn't been that startled by Mako's 'outburst'.
He had seen many displays of sheer mental powers before - be it by Shiromy, Tyleea in the past, even himself at times. Yet hardly any of those had come as unpredicted as this one, especially since the released force had easily devoured that unknown cruiser, which from what he could tell was at least as big as the Traquia.
Damnit, what to do first?!? He thoght. Almost like an answer to his unspoken question he heard an all too familiar voice in his head.
I'm alright!!
He let out oa sigh of relief, when he realized that it had been Shiromy speaking to him. Her voice was clear and strong, seemingly as if nothing had happened. Realizing Shiromy was safe for the moment, his strategic senses kicked back in. Time to grab matters by the balls. The channel to the Oriskany was still open.
"Wes, I know I cannot order you anything, but when you're done with that station, get out of that nebula and contact me, we need to talk about recent events." With a swift gesture he switched channels. "Dominance, I want a constant report stream. Warhammer is coming to assist you."
Closing that channel he looked at Wiggins. "Patch me through tot he Roscha, I shall have a serious talk with Mr. Starcrusher."
-------------
"That was a little too close for my taste." Mryna said, leaning back in the pilot's seat. The Black Scorpion had barely escaped the exploding station. "Janson really means business."

"Corellians..." Lady Shiromy mocked. "they always do."
Both women laughed, it was a relief to laugh again, especially with all that blackness around.
"I haven't thanked you yet for rescuing me." Lady Shiromy then said and her voice was calm and thoughtful. "You have risked your life by coming here."
"That is understood, Mylady." Mryna replied. "I once swore my life to you. That I'm retired doesn't change anything about that oath. And besides ..." she smirked. "... I think you did more to our rescue than I did to yours."
"Oh that" the empress grinned. "well, what happened in Bermuda, stays in Bermuda."
"Well alright then" Mryna said hesitatantly. "I ... think we should contact Admiral Janson then, tell him he can blast away without hard feelings now."
Lady Shiromy giggled. "Yes that will hopefully ease his mind."
Mryna frowned. "Are you not mad at him? He'd have killed you with that station."
"I don't hold a grudge against him." Shiromy said, serious again. "I was horrified when I realized we were stranded here. I knew what that thing had done to me ten years ago - just like it has done this time. If I would have had the chance, I'd have destroyed it in the first place."
"But you are the empress of the ESS" Mryna protested. "killing you would have ..."
"... changed nothing." Shiromy intervened. "Destroying that station was necessary, no matter who was aboard. The consequences of leaving this station intact would have been far graver than the loss of one or two lives."
Mryna remained silent. Shiromy might know more about this station than she did, but she still didn't like the thought.
"Black Scorpion, we have you on our scanners." The oddly modulated voice of that AI chimed. "Admiral Janson is pleased to see you could escape alive."
"Barely escaped" Mryna snapped back, earning an amused look from Lady Shiromy.
"Well, whatever." Joyeuse commented emotionlessly. "He would like to welcome you both aboard the Oriskany."
"That's very kind of him, but we need to get moving" Mryna said. "There are urgent matters at hand that need...."
"He insists." Joyeuse interrupted. "You have clearance for docking bay A-32."
Mryna looked irritatedly at Shiromy. That didn't sound like a friendly invitation. The other woman shrugged. "Very well..."
-------------
"I must say your little show was rather impressive." Vince said striding from one side of the bridge to the other. "You wield considerable powers, and I am sure I don't have to tell you how important it is to control them. The way I learned to know you so far I had the impression you could control your feelings pretty well and refrain from such outbursts." He paused for a moment and watched Mako's holographic image. Aboard the Roscha watching him walknig in circles would look rather funny.
"It was obvious that these intruders, whoever they were, caused something inside you to burst out and release this power. In my life I have accustomed to being surprised by nothing and considering anything possible. So, here is what I want to know:" He stopped his stroll and walked directly towards the holocam.
"Who are those people and what is it with them that causes you to such outbursts? As Supreme Commander I am responsible for the security of the ESS including all the people aboard my ships. If those aggressors - or your powers - pose a potential threat to us, I would like to know, before another such incident happens.
[ 30 May 2006: Message edited by: General_Trageton ]

Mako half listened to Trageton's lecture while he tried not to chuckle at the other man's image of him walking around and around on the holopad. Watching Trageton had reminded Mako of his own father back in the day from when ever he got in trouble. Mako was waiting on the customary 'Now promise me this will never happen again.' line when he heard something unexpected.
"Who are those people and what is it with them that causes you to such outbursts? As Supreme Commander I am responsible for the security of the ESS including all the people aboard my ships. If those aggressors - or your powers - pose a potential threat to us, I would like to know, before another such incident happens."
Mako put on his best smile. "I know I owe you some sort of explanation, but we have other things to worry about first. the Sangheli are still here and they are attacking your cities. I've sent one of my own down to help your forces out. Until the current situation is resolved, I'm sure the explanation for the exteame use of power to dispatch a single ship can wait, no?" Trageton didn't look convinced. Mako was about to say more when the holomages of both Xandra and Garabald joined Trageton's on the holofield. "I take it this is very important?" Mako asked of the two newcommers.
Xandra spoke up first. "Wolf, Davis, and Raynes have suffered serious injuries. The ranks of Raynes' commando team have been all but decimated and both the Miran and the Shinru are heavily crippled. As you can guess it was due to our unwanted follower."
"And," Garabald included, "the news just gets better. It seems that those guys have completed another gate. So you know what that means."
Mako looked back towards Roscha who'd been listening to the whole conversation. Her current expression was very dark."Where is it?" he asked of Garabald as he turned back to face the holopad.
Garabald looked at something offscreen. "It seems to be floating just outside the outter reaches of the galaxy close to the site where they built the last one."
"Damn!" Mako pinched the bridge of his nose between his forefinger and thumb as he thought of a solution to his newest problem.
Xandra cleared her throat to get Mako's attention again. "Mako it doesn't end there. It appears that they've also gotten ahold of some tech that allows them to over heat a ship's reactor and cause it shutdown."
"Aw man, double damn!"
"Mr. Starcrusher would you mind letting me in on what's going on here?" Trageton demanded.
Amongst receiving all the glorious news Mako had forgotten Trageton was still in contact with him. Now the general had Mako's full attention. "Listen Trageton there are some things in this universe that are best left as unknowns. And right now the only thing that stands between the worst of those unknowns and the rest of the galaxy is me. Now I'm sorry for the blatant use of power, and I'm also sorry for the poor explanation, but it's the only one you can afford for now. I Will say this though, don't worry about those bad things causing you or those under you any trouble. You and yours are of no intrest to them."
"That's not the explanation I was looking for."
"No I imagine it wasn't but as the saying goes 'The less you know the safer you are.'"
"For your sake I should hope so Mr. Starcrusher." Trageton closed the connection convinced that he wasn't going to get a better explanation.
Mako turned his attention back to Xandra. "I want you to take the Miran and the Shinru back to Coruscant and birth them at our base there. Ensure that noone sees you. I then want you to take control of the facilities there and move the asteroid somewhere secluded. I don't care where, contact me when you get to whereever it is you end up. Oh and have Kagato bring himself along with some of his best over here." With a slight nod of her canine head Xandra signed off leaving the lone image of Garabald. A few moments later both the Miran and the Shinru had left leaving a lone shuttle in thier wake.
"Perhaps we should have told Trageton the whole story." Garabald suggested
"No," Roscha interjected "It would only increase his worries over something that doesn't concern him."
"True that is until someone decides to destroy that second Gate. The creator only knows how many systems had every inhabitant taken to build that thing."
Mako shook his head, "We'll worry about that later. Right now we've got problems in front of us that need dealing with."
[ 30 May 2006: Message edited by: Mako ]

Johnson planted the bomb and set the timer for 15 minutes. Andrew and the swat team members ran to the hanger and opened fire killing as many as they could. Johnson and his men ran to an escape pod and blasted off. The crew on the Star Destroyer noticed the escape pod and scanned it.
“Open fire they could be a threat.” By that point the escape pod was far out and they were getting a hard lock on the pod. A few close calls came here and there. Johnson prayed that they wouldn’t get hit. Andrew and his crew got to a shuttle and began firing up the engines. Troopers ran to the turrets to try to disable the shuttle. The shuttle took more damage than Andrew though it would. They lifted off and took off as fast as they could. Andrew set everything to the shields. We got what we needed Andrew thought, absolutely nothing this whole dam trip was a waste of time and led them no closer to those dam keepers, Andrew still wondered if Wolf made out ok. The Star Destroyer turned its attention to the shuttle but then blew up. The explosion was larger than anticipated so large that it disabled the shuttle. No one could have missed it. Sh**!!!! Andrew yelled out. Johnson called the VSD right away for immediate pick up. Jack responded and made the jump to hyperspace.

A small bunker in Corellia's northern continent was only staffed by a trio of people. Protected from scanning, evesdropping, and attack, the bunker was entrusted with one of the greatest secrets of the Corellia system. The colonel in charge looked at the screens and sighed. "Tell me that isn't a new rift at the edge of the galaxy." she demanded.
"Ma'am, it is a match for the previous one that was closed some time ago," the captain manning the DER sensors confirmed. The third operator, a civilian, started flipping a series of switches.
"I'm trying to get confirmation form Denon. Maybe we can triangulate and deal with it before it's too late."
"No," the colonel replied wearily, "the fact that we have detected it means it's already too late. Contact Knossos. Have them shut it down for now. We need to be ready to deal with incursions, and we can't be spending time exploring for technology. We are still trying to contain the Shivan threat as is, and that rift has been open for three years now."
"Shut down Knossos? It's been invaluable to us so far, between the Swordfish II designs to the GTVA technical manuals we've recovered. We need the technology if we are going to keep up with new threats."
"Last time we picked up a rift like this, we had nine incursions. The Stumbos Alliance managed to cut our territory in half, and the Sanghelli are still a threat. Plus our two most powerful warships are unavailable, one of them maybe perminantly. We don't have the resources to be exploring other planes right now."
"What about Tacitus?" the civilian inquired.
"Tacitus is the last option, but it may be a good idea to get Centerpoint Command up to speed," the colonel decided.
"What about the Admiral?"
"Trust me, he'd suggest exactly what I am saying. I know him." The captain and civilian exchanged glances. By regulation, the trio did not use names, and were selected at random from the most trustworthy members of the Corellian Defense Force to serve a month long tour. But there was something about this colonel. Whatever misgivings they had about the woman, they had a job to do. Quickly, an alert went out to a secret room on Centerpoint station, and a more general alert to all Corellian Forces, as well as a priority message sent by repeater to the flagship.
[ 01 June 2006: Message edited by: Major Wes Janson ]

Kagato waited at the top of the landing ramp as the shuttle settled down in the Roscha's hanger. He was feeling apprehensive of his meeting with Mako after so long. He was supposed to be handing command of a fully functional and battleworthy Shinru over to Mako, not a holed wreck. Taking one last deep breath as the shuttle loading ramp lowered, Kagato steadied himself then started down, and out into the hanger area. The twelve individuals that he had personally selected from his crew followed him down. He was expecting Mako to be there personally but instead Ty, the Miran's engineer, was there to greet him. Kagato was somewhat relieved but not much,. he waited until the rest of his men had finished shaking Ty's hand and giving him pats on the back before he cut in. "I thought you were on the Miran with Alaan-chan?"
Ty shrugged his shoulders, and smiled. "I was, but the headman wanted me here. I was told to wait for you, seems that Mako wants to talk to both of us on the bridge."
Turning to the rest of his group Kagato gave them orders to standby at the shuttle, before joining Ty as he made his way towards the turbolift. "That was one helluva fight we were in."
Ty's expression darkened a bit. "Yeah it was. The fact that we were able to escape with the least amount of damage is all thanks to Wolf, Davis, and Raynes."
The images of Wolf, Davis and Raynes battered bodies as they had made it back from destroying one of the larger Keeper ships, and causing enough diversion for the rest of them to escape, came to the front of Kagato's mind. "Hai and it was sheer luck that they only used half their remaining fleet."
As the two men entered the turbolift Ty hit the button to take them to the bridge. "No I did the calculations, it would seem that they only had one quarter of the fleet there."
"What?" The horror in Kagato's voice was very apparent. "Five thousand ships the size of the Roscha and larger was only a quarter?"
Ty noded "You weren't there when we first went to get Mako dislodged from the First Gate. The initial force there was easily ten times that. We figured that most of the the Keepers had managed to get through before Roscha destroyed it leaving only twenty thousand behind."
"Only?"
The turbolift stopped and opened up onto the bridge. Kagato and Ty walked out to find Mako, Roscha, Canthas (Mako's togorian protege who was currently in command of the Chakra), and Xendar talking to Garabald on the holoprojector. They managed to catch the end of a conversation. "The Gate is fully constructed they only need the Key to get it working." Garabald was saying.
"Geeze I feel for those poor souls that are being used in that Gate's construct. It's definatly one helluva nightmare." Canthas intoned.
"Yeah you should know having been used in the first one."
"Don't remind me. Well at least we don't have to worry about anymore star systems becoming mysteriously abandoned."
"But still." Mako sighed. "We should help those people that were carbonfrozen into that things structure."
"If we attempt to do that Dear," Roscha cut in, "they'll just capture the one thing they need to get that thing working, you. And even if we did manage to dismantle this gate like I did the last one, they'll build another gate unless we destroy them."
"And as we all know Mako," Xendar spoke up, "Three ships against twenty thousand, give or take a few, is going to be a slaughter. It'd be nice if we could just let these guys go to whatever new dimension they've found with the rest of their kind."
"Yes it would, but not at the cost of my husbands life nor the cost of one quarter of the universe when they close the gate from the otherside." Roscha's expression had gotten dark again. "I'll Die before that happens."
Kagato cleared his throat to get Mako's attention. When Mako turned to acknowledge him Kagato kowtowed. "I have come as you requested."
Mako made a rising gesture with his hand. "Get up I didn't call you here to chastise you, geeze. Canthas and Xendar both told me about how you guys helped out an old friend and were accosted by the Keepers. I'm just glad you're both ok."
"Yes unfortunatly the same cannot be said about Raynes-son, Wolf-kun, and Davis-chan."
Afrown crossed Mako's face. "I know, but knowing them. they'll be fine and ready to fight in no time. For now let's discuss why you're here." Motioning for Kagato and Ty to join him and the others at the Holoprojector he brought up the image of a shipyard with the title heading of 'The Vault'. "Remember when we aquired this ship?"
Kagato nodded his head. "The Roscha? Yeah that was one amazing theft. Security fighters all over the place, Youngkrull damn near going on a rampage. Roscha ripping the engines out of the patrol cruisers, and both the Miran and the Kiros barely making it out of there with this ship with just burned circuits."
Mako smiled. "Well guess what, you, Ty, Canthas, Xendar, and the troops you picked are going back to that shipyard and picking up a couple of ships." enlarging the image he pointed out several blips to Kagato. "I don't know if you remeber but there were some ships there that shared the same basic design as this one. I beleive they were designated as Executor IIs. You guys are to go there and aquire at least two of those ships."
Kagato blinked at Mako."Two?"
"Two."
Kagato frowned for a second then smiled. "As you command Mako-chan."
"Good now get on it." Dismissing the four of them by pointing at the Turbolift, Mako closed down the map of the shipyard. Almost in unison Kagato and the rest turned and made thier way to the turbolift. "Garabald you said you found something else out while you were looking for the Keepers' new gate."
Garabald's holoimage smiled "Well I found you a new captain's chair so you can sit down while Roscha's on the bridge with you. But that's not the big news, The big news is that another rift to our home has been opened near where the one we came through when Roscha and Youngkrull lead us on our search to find you appeared."
"Has anyone else found it?"
Garabald shook his head "As far as I can tell, no."
Mako stroked his beard for a minute he was about to give Garabald some orders when Roscha spoke up first. "Send the coordinates to my personal fighter, I'll need them."
"Done and done."
Mako gave Roscha a sideways glace. "What do you think you're doing?"
Roscha gave Mako her most innocent smile. "Isn't it obvious dear I'm going to get our daughter."
[ 01 June 2006: Message edited by: Mako ]

The sudden warbling noise of an alert klaxon was the last thing Admiral Nimziki expected to hear. It took a moment to recognize the pattern, but when he did, he immediately called up both the sensor and communication displays on his command chair display. The alarm was that reserved for only two things: detection of a rift in the immediate vicinity by ships sensors, or a general alert by Corellia Command of a rift detection. The short message indicated that it was the second, which was only a short term blessing.
As a full Admiral in the Corellian Fleet, Nimziki had access to most of the information on the rifts, though it was rather meager. The rifts were apparently the byproduct of some device or even tenatively centered at the fringe of the Outer Rim. Each rift would appear for several weeks to a year, and spawn a number of smaller disturbances in space that somehow linked a small region of smace to somewhere...else. corellian ships had stumbled across the Knossos more than a decade ago, when it activated itself in response to the first rift. The ring somehow stabilized one of the links, allowing for it to be directed and controlled, in a vague sort of fashion. So far it was used to launch scouting missions to recover information and useful technology. Privately, Nimziki believed the Knossos was constructed by the same ancient race that built Centerpoint.
A nearby explosion shook him from his thoughts. the Cantwell shuddered from the detonation, and he saw a cloud of debris that had been the last of the major Sanghelli warships. The remainder were being held off by the smaller ships of his flotilla. Out the starboard viewports, he could see the Kearsage, sister to his own vessel, with her bow pointed directly at him and titanic energies glittering in the primary weapon banks mounted to the prow. She could easily destroy him and Cantwell before his own dreadnought could return fire. Not that he particularly wanted to. His battle was against the ESS, not Corellia. his loyalty to his home still ran deep. The fact that he had hijacked one of the two largest Corellian ships and incited mutiny in a portion of the fleet was incidental. At this point, it looked as though his campaign was going to be cut short. Tapping commands into his chair, he opened a channel to the Kearsage. "This is Admiral Nimziki, commander Cantwell battle group to commander Kearsage, please respond."
"This is Commodore Stewart, commander Kearsage fleet group, to ex-Admiral Nimziki. I am under orders to recover your battle group and bring both yourself and your crews to Corellia on charges of mutiny. Will you comply?"
Nimziki winced. Not only was the situation harsher than he had anticipated, but his counterpart was of a lower rank. "Commodore Stewart, If I am to comply, I wish to parley with an officer of similar rank."
The grizzled man in the holo scowled at him, and Nimziki hid a smile. "One moment." he stepped out of the holo-field for a moment, obviously issuing orders to his comm chief. Moments later, he returned. A second holo joined him, that of a young female Nimziki only vaguely recognized. Stewart looked mildly surprised at her appearance as well. He stepped out of the holo-field again, likely to confer with his comm chief. Nimziki wondered if there was a mistake somewhere along the line. There were only a few full admirals in the Corellian Navy, and less of a higher rank. This woman was none of them.
"who are you?" Nimziki demanded brusqely.
"Joyeuse, AI Oriskany. Stand by for someone with a higher rank." Her voice descended into a thoughtful tone. "Though my position on the ship is essentially that of XO...Janson, am I a Commander?" Stewart had returned and saw this 'Joyeuse' person's response. He and Nimziki shared a look. Suddenly Janson replaced the woman and both men stood to attention. Jasnon didn't acknowledge them at first, instead looking over his shoulder.
"...not a Commander, you'd have to be an officer and not an AI to have an officer rank. Stewart, report."
"Sir! We have located the Cantwell battle group and assisted in driving off a Sanghelli fleet. Admiral Nimziki was informed of the warrant for his arrest, and asked to surrender. He demanded to speak to an officer of similar rank."
Janson somehow manaded to look intimidating through the quarter sized holo. "Nimziki. I know why you wanted to talk to someone higher than Stewart, and it wasn't just to twist his tail. I don't have time for your pride at the moment, or your damn fool vendetta against General Trageton. Especially now. I know ou rcieved the rift alert, just like every other ship in the fleet. I need the ships you took back. So here's the deal. Cantwell and all other renegade ships are to return with Stewart to Selonia. You will be court marshalled, but I will allow your crews amnesty. I think that deal should be enough for your noble streak. and I know that you and the crews still are technically loyal to Corellia, so there's no charge of treason. Any other time you would not have a snowball's chance on Mustafar of me being this lenient after this stunt, but I can't afford to waste men or ships. Admiral, you are relieved of command until further notice." Janson's holo blinked out.
"Well, Commodore, you're in charge. what are your orders?" It never even occured to Nimziki to disobey Janson this time. While his vendetta had technically been disobedience, Nimziki admitted to himself that his loyalty was too ingrained to oppose the man when he phrased orders in that tone.
"Form up on Kearsage and set course for Selonia."

Mako watched the sensors from his command chair. The battle had pretty much died down and all that was left were the few skirmishes that were taking place planetside. Youngkrull had called in and reported that the mopup was pretty much over and done with. Mako was about to fall asleep from boredom when the crewmember filling in for Xandra got his attention. "What is it Mal?"
"I've got an incoming message for you."
"Well let's hear it." Turning his attention to the holoprojector Mako's boredom was replaced by near uncontrolable rage as the visage of someone he'd hope to never see again filled the holofield. Putting his rage in check and keeping his expression neutral Mako addressed the Verpine image. "Vruk, what do you want?"
The verpine smiled as much as he could. "Mako, my old friend, zuch rage iz not like you."
"Save it Vruk, answer the question."
Vruk's smile left his face. "I juzt called to tell you that there haz been a tear created in the fabric of zpaze."
Mako kept his expression nonchelant. "Yeah so?"
"Zo that tear juzt happenz to lead to your homeworld."
"Are you calling to tell me that I can go home now Vruk? Thanks but I've been aware of the tear and it's destination for some time now. So if you'll excuse me I've got some business to attend to."
Vruk's face grew more stern. "I'm calling to inform you that you are no longer top of the Keeper lizt anylonger."
Mako let some concern show on his face. "What do you mean?"
"Come now, Juzt how long did you think you could hide the existanze of your daughter. Az powerful az your life energiez are, her'z muzt be unfathomable."
Mako laughed wildly at Vruk's supposition. "Hahahah you think that my daughter is more powerful than I? I'm sorry to say it old friend but your use of that jedi artifact has really burned your braincells. And to think you used to be so clever when I first found you. I hate to inform you but'if my daughter had so much of an incling of potential power do you honestly think that my wife would've left her behind?"
Vruk's expression had clouded over with anger for a brief moment before he got it back under control. "Either way I cannot allow The Keeperz to get ahold of her. Perhapz we could work together on thiz."
Mako's anger leaked into his voice, "I would just as soon work with a rancor, And trust Ferris' fate to it."
"Zuit yourzelf, Juzt remember I did offer to help." With that Vruk cut the connection.
No sooner had Mako finished talking to Vruk than he got ahold of Roscha. He was instantly put a ease when her face Filled the Holofield. "I hate to call you long distance dear, you know how the phone bill gets."
Roscha Let a smile cross her face. "What is it dear?"
"Oh nothing much I just got a call from our old pal Vruk. It seems that We're not the only ones who know about that rift home."
"Is that so? In that case I'll be quick about getting Ferris and bringing her back to you. We can't have Vruk trying to kill her or the Keepers getting ahold of her."
Mako's smile broadened "My thoughts exactly. See you when you return." Cutting the link Mako sat back in chair and thought about his reunion with his daughter. He hadn't seen her since she was five. This reunion would be interesting.
