Same here, if anybody needs the Farlander Papers or other source material for the english redux translation, let me know. I have been in regular contact with Fader and FekLeyrTarg about extracting midi files and re-mastering. There are quite a few forums on the net where people get into the detail of isloating individual files, some at queststudios.com and lucasforums.com, if anyone can help put us onto someone who has already de-constructed the individual midi themes, get them to contact myself or FLT so I can keep the ball rolling.

Happy Easter Everybody

Ok, I've scanned the site myself and I found nothing regarding x-wing or mad marty. I made a google search as well. Nothing regarding mad marty.

FLT, they may be spelling his handle differently, it could be Mad Maarty (several more a's than normal) or Mad Maaarty or even Mad Maaaarty etc.

Can you get back to me about a primer from Benevolence about how we might start re-mastering the tracks proper for inclusion now that we got past the demo stage?

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that I've been cheating myself with DOSBox set to SB16. I set it to general midi, and holy crap! It's X-wing like I never heard it before. Although, I compared it with TIE Fighter's music, and TF just blows it out of the water. We need to do something about that later on. Everyone agree?

I have an idea: What do you think about setting up a mod profile for X-Wing Redux on http://www.moddb.com ?

Excellent idea Fek'LeyrTarg, I think that would be a great idea
and would help increase the exposure of the project and
hopefully attract some more people to help with the project.

Could someone let me know where they would like the Farlander Papers
and other Prima Strategy guide source material uploaded to, as I have
started scanning them, but if someone could let me know the preferred
format and dpi definition that would be a big help.

Also, l will record some X-Wing music samples from an MT-32 synth just in
case anyone prefers the retro Linear Arithmetic synthesis style over the General Midi.

Good luck. That should keep everyone busy and happy until benevolence has finished school in june so he can remaster the midis the way he did with the Dark Forces midis.

Jefe talked to me about setting up something online so we could communicate and exchange files easily, but I haven't heard back from him, so I don't know about that.

I'm not sure we need a lot more people if any. We may want to wait till we have something to show before setting up a mod profile.

No more discussion of the Papers on the board in this context, please. I don't want this thread locked because of this.

Do you have a sample of what Linear Arithmetic synthesis sounds like compared to general midi?

We can use my ftp site 140.113.145.55 port 21 for file communication. I has already setup an account for redux, anyone can pm me for account and password.
There is an excel file listing all Redux and X-wing CD mission files. I suggest everyone create his own folder and put his work on it as I already put mine.

Good idea. But I recommend that you send the password via pm next time since anyone can access your ftp and get xwr before the heads of the team decided to release it.

Hello. I've heard of the X-Wing Redux project for some time and it got me really excited, just as much as the Tie Fighter TC. Fek'LeyrTarg was wondering if I was interested in helping and referred me to here so I could introduce myself. I'm currently doing an X-Wing playthrough and getting to know more and more about the missions so maybe I could help recreate the available missions

Only the project leaders: myself or DTM, have the authorization to accept new team members, unless specified otherwise, just a friendly reminder to everyone. I know you PMed me about ChrisR, but I didn't have the time to respond till now. Recommending people that are interested and can help is OK though.

Hi Chris, I'm one of the project leaders. DTM is the other leader. I understand you have experience with writing missions. You may be able to help DTM with putting the "original material" into missions. We currently have no need for beta testers at the moment, but we'll keep you in mind. I too have been playing through the original game to get a feel for it. It will certainly help once we get to testing. I will contact DTM and see what he says.

By the way, do we have a progress report? I haven't worked on translating in a while. Lots of RL issues, but things are beginning to settle down, so I should resume very soon. I have received initial translations of the second half of Tour I by Waylon and all of Tours II and III by darkpadawan and Jefe. They're working on finishing the remaining Tours now. Keep in mind, these are the initial translations and are in no way a finished product. They have not been polished up. Think of them as first drafts. We may make something available when I finish the second draft of the first tour, just to show things are moving and how this could turn out. I don't know what DTM is up to, as I haven't heard from him in a while.

How is progress on the music?

I hope you're all doing well IRL.

Thanks for the reminder but I actually only asked Chris, if he wants to join.
And regarding the music: There's no progress at the moment.

Fek'LeyrTarg, as we disucssed last time, is that possible to extract radio message from xwing so that we can add in as we doing translation. I test fly some translated mission, some message vanished quickly. If would be better if all messages have wav file link as TFTC. Or even record your own wave file make it more colorful, I think. Just a suggestion.

Yes, it is possible to extract X-Wings voiceover but I haven't found the radio message voices yet.

To extract and convert voices:
1. Extract them from the lfd files using "code alliance game explorer"
2. open "Audacity"
3. import one of the voice files using the "import raw data" function (in this example we use the "ackbar1" file)
4. make sure that the sample rate is at 11025 Hz.
5. export the file in any format you wish (in this example we use both the mp3 and wav formats)
Attachments
ackbar1.rar
This includes the raw ackbar1 file and the wav and mp3 variant.

It won't matter. The briefings aren't identical. There are a variations in a variety of degrees. The audio will largely have to be redone much later on. Might as well ask now if anyone's got a good neutral speaking voice and diction. Well, does anyone?
