Hi I'm relatively new to this forum so forgive me if this is in the wrong section.

Have any of you heard of the enbseries of graphics mods, and if so has anyone used it with XWA
don't get me wrong i'm not trying to advertise. but they say it can be compatible with other games.

basically i got the latest models from the downloads page and I thought WOW! everything looks soo cool!
but still things like effects were missing so i tried to put in the enbseries files into the game directory in order to make it look even better...

sadly this doesn't work...
if there is any other way to improve graphics (namely effects) then that'd be great!
your input is well apprecciated.

ENB Series looks like a method to add lots of anti-aliasing and blur to games.

Never heard about that! If it would be possible to upgrade the game graphics... :D ...it would be XWA salvation and a party for everyone here!

It looks like that these ENB execute post-processing on graphics generated by the video cards, so they work on image enhancement just like you could do with Gimp or Photoshop on a normal image. So lighting, contrast, sharpening, etc. features, but no resolution increasing or changes to the graphical engine.

true, that the engine of the game is not affected. when you run a direct x game it will look in its own directory for files first,
then in the system directories for direct x files.
enb series is like a faked direct x dll put in the same directory as the game.
and so the game would find it and use its effects.
thats like a basic theory.
its compatible with other direct x games and all that is changed are the presets (like depth of water, how much blur... etc.)
so all thats needed are some suitable presets for the xwa game engine...and someway to change the default key to activate it. the default key is "shift + f12",
however in xwa it calls a command already set...cant remember.
but i hope there is a way to do that to xwa...
if not with enbseries then perhaps a fake overlay.

Just reading through forums again and catching up on news. This caught my eye, has anything come of this or have people stopped exploring it? Also, one of the issues I had with XWA was scope, it think the number of ships and lasers allowed to be fired and the like are limited at any one time (96 for AI ships and I am not sure what the limit is on lasers but I know that the SSD should have many more firing at one time than there are in the game so that is obviously limited). I believe that the only way to change this is altering the game engine, but if there was a way to alter this it would be a great upgrade to the game.

I think that ENBseries will never work with XWA as this game is D X 6-based, and ENBseries is not compatible with D X 6.

Not anymore! Is this an idea worth revisiting? Now I'm using enb to enhance gta3. with the newer direct dlls could enb possibly add depth of field to xwa?
