How many mission could be in XWA Mission.lst?

I have never discovered if XWA is an open system or not. Is there a numerical maximum number to mission in XWA?

The "misison.lst" file by itself is not limited.
There is a limit in the pilot file ("*.plt") for the missions statistics.
I think the limit is either 66 or 254. I have'nt tested that.

I am well over 66 and xwa works fine. So 254: over that limits do the game crash?
