Hello pilots,
I saw the AlliED section of the Modding Wiki is still empty, so I decided to write a text for the "Goals" section.
However, I don't know how to load it to the Modding Wiki, therefore I post it here.

By the way, do you approve the description style I use or do you prefer to also have some examples for the Wiki?

The text is fine. Unfortunately for some reason I can‘t create any new wiki pages. Force will have to take a look at that once he‘s back.

Here is a text about Orders.

I thought it would be better to split the Orders section into 2 parts (Basic and Advanced) to avoid having a section too long.
This text is for the Orders – Basic section.

There is a brief introduction to orders and how they are performed, then specific orders are explained in detail.
I’ve reported as many details as I could for each order, though there are still many other unknowns yet to be discovered.

I avoided reporting some exotic orders such as “Attack escorts of” as they are never used in missions (or extremely rare) and I have not much info about those orders.
I mean I have no idea about what those “No Effect?” boxes hide.

However, this should provide a good piece of info to anyone building a mission or modifying an existing one for the first time.

I’ve marked with (*) things that are still object of discussion (hope to have not forgotten any) since contrasting results have been obtained.

The Orders – Advanced section will include link targets option, order priority and target priority, jump conditions and a few other things.
I’ll post it as soon as I have it ready.

UPDATE

I have updated the info on the "Attack targets" order with how warhead usage is managed in case crafts of the Flight Group carry 2 warhead loads (the first is always concussion missiles, the second is the load set in the Ship tab).

"Hyper to Region" order has also been updated with the distance from the last waypoint crafts enter hyperspace.

Minor update to a few other things.

Please re-download the Orders - Basic section: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qt465mhjn4sqj ... .docx?dl=0

By the way, is there anybody in the community having some more info about SS orders? The "No Effect?" boxes of the order "SS Patrol + attack" for example.

I must admit the chapter "Orders requiring targets and waypoints" is the poorest section (I mean the section with the least info) I wrote.

Here is the second (and last) part about orders: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5fkt27956it9x ... .docx?dl=0

I split the Orders section into 2 parts (Basic and Advanced) because the part about jump conditions affecting order priority might sound a little confusing to anyone making a mission for the first time.
However, it's up to the moderators the decision whether to keep those 2 parts separated or merge in a single Orders section.

The last section "Mission editing: Order sequence with Jump conditions" explains how to edit in practice keeping into account how jump conditions work.

These 2 files are all I have about orders. I hope we will have more info in the future about the "No Effect?" boxes for SS orders.

UPDATE

I've updated the "Orders - Basic" file to mention which orders are exceptions to the "Jump to order" trigger.
I've also updated the "Orders - Advanced" file to better explain the ambiguous case of the same condition being both as "Jump to order" and as Departure condition.

Please re-download the "Orders - Basic" and the "Orders - Advanced" files.

We should consider getting the rest of this editing wiki online. Its good stuff and even having messed with this game for 20 years I learned stuff from it.

Are you writing a section of the AlliED Mod-Wiki? My next will be the Waypoints one.

I meant that more as encouragement for you. I'm shit a technical writing, and you clearly have a hearty knowledge of allied and .tie files.

UPDATE

I've added the "AI-controlled crafts performing this order cannot trigger orders with “Jump to order” conditions" to the Fly home order.

This is some great stuff!
I will have to look at why GT cannot create new sections in the wiki. I am a bit busy today and currently only on my cell phone though. Might only be able to look at that later.
