Two small issues with XWAUP 1.6

Hello all! First off, I just got back into XWA again after finally installing the 1.6 Patch. Amazing, amazing work as always. Playing the mission where you abandon the Kothlis base looks beautiful. However, I have ran into 2 minor issues. I took a look at the readme but haven't seen a solution yet. It's been a while where I needed help editing, so any help is greatly appreciated.

First - I installed a clean copy of XWA (from CDs). Then I installed the 1.6 Patch. Everything is great. The only thing that didn't get updated was the Lambda Shuttle. It looked like it was the TG model.

Second - I installed the new crafts that were released after the 1.6 Update (except the accelerator rings, I don't play the Pilot Proving Grounds). I tested them all in skirmish, no issues except for the casino. I played the mission where you evacuate the casino, it crashed right after the mission briefing. I downloaded the latest ddraw file, and the mission loaded no problems. I hypered into region 2 where the casino was, saw it was working so I went to quit, then I got an error message and the game crashed. I don't recall what the error message was, something to do with a GBU? or something, that's all I remember. I never got the error message again. I tried the mission again, flew around the casino for a bit and no issues, no game crash this time. I tried in skirmish, it works, but now the game crashes when the casino is destroyed.

I want to point out after installing the latest ddraw file, the Lambda shuttle was updated. It did shrink my resolution down, but playing the game itself my screen is still widescreen, so I'm in no rush to fix that, as its just the concourse that's a smaller screen. The rest of the game works flawlessly. Has anyone encountered these issues, or is it just an issue on my end?

To be safe you could use the hooks tool to make sure you have all the latest hook files. This tool can be found on the download page and the instructions are included with it. Try that and see what problems remain.

In terms of the resolution, how did you set it originally? Did you set it with the installer or xwahacker afterwards?

Thanks I'll try that. I haven't tried playing the mission with the casino again so I'm not sure if the problem is still there. There were 2 other issues I encountered. One in Battle 2 Mission 5, where the Liberty gets swarmed by the Experimental TIEs. The mission crashed when the second wave showed up. I tried it again, no issues. The other, it may have been the last Rebel mission in Battle 6, when I entered the hanger of either the Liberty or Independence, the shuttle that's seen in the hanger, when it was taking off its wings kept spinning. It was kinda funny actually. That was the only time I've seen that happen. I'll see if the newest hooks will fix the other problems.

I ended up fixing the resolution. I had it set at 1920 x 1080. Someone posted a similar issue in the XWAUP thread about their concourse aspect ratio. JeremyaFr responded, and I was able to fix mine easily. I just had to open the ddraw file with notepad and change the PreserveAspectRatio to 0 for widescreen.


One other (unrelated issue) I'm having is with Allied. I'm trying to make a new mission and there is one order that just won't work, and its the only one that's preventing me from releasing it. Without giving too much away, you fly in Rogue Squadron. Your X-wing is Global Group and Global Unit 1. The X-wing in question is GG 2 and GU 0. That X-wing eventually defects and tries to shoot you down. I copied how the defect order and how the GG/GU was set up where the Hurrim defects in Battle 5 Mission 2. The defect order works fine and attacks you, no problem there. The next order is for the X-wing to be disabled, and it "jumps" to that order when the X-wing defects, and is at 50% hull. Both happen, and the X-wing still flies around and attacks you. I realized for the disabled order, I still had the throttle at 100%. I switched it to zero, and its still not working.

The X-wing should jump to the disabled order, regardless of what side its on, no? I'm going to try deleting that X-wing and redoing the orders and see what happens.

Just posting an update.

So I tried messing around with my mission tonight. I still can't get that last order to work. I had the X-wing set for 4 orders - attack TIEs, defect, attack player, disabled. All the orders work except that disabled order. I even tried taking out the defect order so he would have only 3 orders and no luck. For the defect order, the X-wing will "jump" to that order when the following happens - when message # 55 is shown, and when the X-wing in question is at 50% hull. Now, both of these happen, I see message 55 show up, and you are the one who gets the X-wing down to 50% hull, as I set the mission where nobody attacks that X-wing.

I took a look at the mission where you have to capture Kupalo's Shuttle. He has a disabled order, with a jump to when his shuttle gets to 50% hull. Everything is right on my end 100% so I'm at a complete loss on this one. :?
