Jeremy/Blue Max, for the external hook to work do you need Blue Max's new cockpit look hook or are these independent to each other?

I didn't know this, but just looked it up, in Cockpit Mode and now in External Mode you can toggle the HUD on and off using the Ctrl + End Keys
I was going to suggest a toggle on/off key, but it's not needed as it exists

Jeremy while in the hangar in external mode pressing the keypad keys the hud is showing just the two text screens and the bottom centre screen, can these be disabled from the external view while in the hangar, enabling the external hud only when you've entered the mission
Thanks

I've encounted a few more bugs:
- if you have hidden the cockpit, then go to exterior view and press * to look around, the camera will spin uncontrollably fast. This also happens in target view (ALT+U). If you have the cockpit activated, it all works fine.
- if you hide all the UI elements separately, the crosshair will still turn white.

Hello,
The bugs appear with the exterior hook or the DDraw dll?

This might be a bug the cockpit inertia feature. Please disable the CockpitLook hook and try again.General_Trageton wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 6:13 am- if you have hidden the cockpit, then go to exterior view and press * to look around, the camera will spin uncontrollably fast. Known bug in the VR mod. Already fixed; but haven't released it yet.- if you hide all the UI elements separately, the crosshair will still turn white.

Looks like it's my turn to report a bug in the exterior hook: if you target any object and the hide the HUD, the targeted object will still be visible, floating behind other objects:
This happened with the latest exterior hook version + ddraw 1.3.9.

This is a bug in the CockpitLook hook. It's related to the tilt that I added so that the aiming reticle is visible as soon as we jump to the exterior view. I'll fix this.blue_max wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:35 pmThis might be a bug the cockpit inertia feature. I just do the same as GT did.
Go to Exterior view with / and press * to look around, the camera will spin uncontrollably fast and can't be stopped.
I also have the exterior HUD hook thing active. It's always active afaik

Can you repeat this test disabling the CockpitLook hook? Just rename the extension to ".DL_" or something like that.Ace Antilles wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:06 pmGo to Exterior view with / and press * to look around, the camera will spin uncontrollably fast and can't be stopped.
I just did this and it seems to be fine over here.

If I use Hook_CockpitLook-Apr-19-2020 then the ship spins. All I need to do is press "/"
If I use the Hook_CockpitLook in my attached Zip file then everything works ok.
If I do what you said and disable the DLL name then everything work ok too. But so does the older file I was using.
I've added the CFG file I have too in case there's some useful info in there.
So it's only the Apr-19-2020 file that is causing me this issue. I don't have VR btw

OK, two things:
1. Did you remember to rename "Hook_CockpitLook-Apr-19-2020.dll" to "Hook_CockpitLook.dll"? (Sorry, had to ask)
2. Your cfg file is missing the external inertia section, that's why nothing happens in the older versions. You need to add the following:
external_inertia_enabled = 1
external_inertia = 1.5
external_max_inertia = 0.03
external_tilt = -10.0
The "external_tilt" is the thing that makes the ship spin out of control if it's set to a nonzero value -- but it's also used to tilt the view a little bit so that you can see your ship and the reticle at the same time without having to move the external camera.

It was the Config file that was doing it. It works with the new Hook now. Sorry I'm still getting used to these new hook things.blue_max wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:31 amOK, two things:

I probably wasn't planning on adding something that was still being worked on until it was finished. But when I see a new download I have to get it lol
So I didn't add anything to the CFG file. I think it could be worth adding new CFG files with updated hooks too at least ones marked "example" or something.
That way you won't have to deal with idiots like me so much. At least I keep you busy testing stuff
Thanks for your help Max appreciate it

You're right, that would've saved us some grief. I'll add sample cfg files to my future updates. Also: thanks for testing my stuff!Ace Antilles wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:52 amI think it could be worth adding new CFG files with updated hooks too at least ones marked "example" or something.
