So I've had this issue a couple of times now when I have a fleet of starships hyperspace in at one point and come out the other end in a totally messed up formation. I've never been able to understand why, perhaps its even a bug with the system but I have noticed a few things.
Fleet formations seem to be maintained if coming in directly up or down the Y plane. However if coming in at an angle, the formation gets messed up. Interestingly though, the formation IS maintained, except it ends up... mirrored somehow even if the ships are still facing their original direction. See screenshots below:
First we have the ships preparing to leave Region 1:
Then they arrive in Region 2:
Notice how the formation is maintained but mirrored in the opposite direction yet the ships face the intended direction they're supposed to come from. I can't see any waypoint information that causes this at all. So any ideas?

Afraid not, I generally don't use the hyper to region command for massive fleets because Allied messes up the waypoints in the second region.

I've been doing some experementing. Starting with waypoints small ships and escort orders. Gonna work my way up. Ill keep you informed.
