For starters use the correct Forum board. Either use the X-wing Alliance or General Board or X-wing Legacy site.
This forum is only for questions and help regarding the XWAU Patches. It isn't a general help page. Also I suggest posting in depth info as to what you did.
Sorry Image
------------------
The REAL Ace Antilles.
Ace Antilles X-wing Outpost
Home of Endor & Yavin Updates.

I suggest you start over using MXVTED, rather than manually editing the txt files. Also simple stff; have you place the opt in flighmodels with the correct name (case-sensitive)

I have tried adding opts with MXvTED and had no joy. The ships don't show up in my Tech Library, and if I try to fly a skirmish with any of the new opts in it, XWA dies on me (spits me back to win).
So I figured I was doing something wrong and decided I had to get the NCA with its nice installer. After it installed, I had a snoop around the files and found I had done everything right the first time (I followed DS's tute on his site). I fired up XWA and alas, the same problem as last time. No new ships in the tech library, and though i could pick the new ships for my missions, if i tried to load a mission with a new ship in it, XWA would spit me out.
If I replace an existing opt with a new one it works, and the the XWAU RFP worked first time round.
Any ideas??

That's strange. I admit to having read DS's tutorial, but rather Steele's ancient one. The ships in the tech library should be mixed by MXvTED; it has more to do with your pilot file than the installation process.
As for the crashing before mission, there are a variety of reasons for that. Which OPTs are you installing? Do you hvae hardware Mipmapping turned on? In which program did you install the OPT?
------------------
Webmaster of OPT Review.com . Also staff member here.

I was trying to load up DS's awesome sith infiltrator and armed courier as well as JM's Home one. Hardware mip on full.
I can get it to work if i stick the opts in in place of other ships and use them. Everything is good, i can fly around in my e-wing and look at the home one and stuff, but I can't add anything as a new ship. The main reason I worry is bacause I will be very upset if the IFPO caomes out and I can't use the X-1. I guess i'll just have to replace the Pinook or something if that happens.
Oh yeah, first time i used MXvTED and the second time I let NCA's installer do the work for me.
[This message has been edited by Voodu (edited 21 March 2001).]

again, the commonest cause of crashing when the game starts is the opt is in the wrong place (or the OPT is corrupt?) Check in mxvted the optfile location is FLIGHTMODELS\whatever and CHECK the case of the optfiles!!

Try using BHE. The really old tutorial that really works very well is at http://www.michaelboewes.de/xwing/index.htm . But at least it works for me all the time.
------------------
Webmaster of OPT Review.com . Also staff member here.

I have the problem of XWA spitting me out back to *@!#$ WinME, and I've found out that it's a problem with my power lines to the computer. The house is about 70 years old, and I assume the wires are as well. Since they're so old, they're somewhat corroded, and they're not transmitting enough power to let any of my 3D intensive programs run. I'm getting them replaced shortly.
[This message has been edited by DataDroid (edited 27 March 2001).]
