I managed to get some artwork commissioned to commemorate my time in the 501st legion. Probably gonna also have some in universe challenge coins done. I hope to get them to about 5 USD a coin. I figured you guys might appreciate this.

Here is the original artwork, it was done by a guy that specializes in these personalized style logos. He has a wide breadth of star wars characters done for members all over the world.

Then with his blessing I made some edits for a proof on concept to do a coin run, here is the possible front and back.

Looks pretty cool to me. I have looked into challenge coins for unrelated things to this prior, but oh boy are the production runs expensive.

This is probably the cheapest I've found. I saw one place that their mould fee was like 500 bucks, and wanted a rather large minimum order of in thecouple hundred coin range, and each coin was like 10-20 bucks.

I don't envy you trying to get this going, but would love to hear your results if you actually meet this goal.

I got a guy historically who has done runs of minimum 100 for about 3.50 USD each. I don't have a quote yet for these but, its a guess. But you never really can sell 100, so you have to take orders for anyone who wants them for at least 5 USD per in order to be able to even consider putting them into production. Luckily I can expect about 2 dozen to want some, and some of them will want multiples for future trades. So I might be able to collect have the production cost up front for orders and then eat the rest, and then store them in a closet.

On another note, I have a stupid big idea to produce a run of in universe coins commemorating the TIE Starfighter line, maybe the TIE in question on one side and the sienar logo on the other, with aurebesh writing for the type of TIE. Fighter, Bomber, Interceptor, x1, Avenger, Defender, Phantom, and then maybe a couple Cygnus as well. But that's gonna be something I have to actually make a profit on to be able to fund the next fighter. But this is definitely an ambitious and costly undertaking. I just want something not quite so cheesy compared to all the Disney merch garbage that also stays in-universe.

I think seeing the old XvT medals translated into real challenge coins would be cool. Probably would have a wider market since they'd be almost entirely generic swag.

I intend to have those 3D printed for a wall shadow box at some point. I will also poke you if I ever get a printer. Gonna have to sort out the ribbons though and I remember thinking that was gonna be the most difficult.

Printing the ribbons could be interesting; depending on the printer if the print quality is "worse" you could use that to emulate the fabric texture to a certain extent since it's mostly linear.
