Hi there and welcome.
OK first of, to clarify, you've been mentioning 3 games - X-Wing, TIE Fighter and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. This mod project and the mods that are shown in the video are for X-Wing Alliance.

Now that that's out of the way, the main XWA Upgrade craft pack is right here.

That X-Wing you see in the video is an alternative X-Wing version created by Spyder, It's being hosted by DTM here MTD Industries. For this to be usable, you will ned to install various Hooks, best and easiest way to do that is to install teh XWAU Craft Pack or Darksaber's Ultimate Craft Pack, which will install those along many other upgrades.
Just follow the download link in the menue on the left and it'll take you where you need to go.

Now, that particular craft pack is only a part of all mod activities around XWA. Check the For Beginners Thread for more details.

The download link for Spyder's X-Wing versions:
Default edition
Red Sqaudron
Azzameen edition
New Republic

Are all where they should be, files are present I just tried downloading them. You may be looking at one of the unreleased X-Wing models downloads rather than Spyder's.

Hi General_Trageton and Driftwood,

Thank your for your response.

I have download the mod: T-65_Spyder_RedSquadron_adv_18-05-19.zip

And follow these instructions:

https://darksaber.xwaupgrade.com/tutmxvted.html

but I find it a bit complex for me.

Actually I have installed XWAU Craft Pack v2.6 on XWA and all work fine.

There is a more easy way to replace permanently the old model of xwing with this T-65_Spyder_RedSquadron_adv_18-05-19 ?

Like for example replace the old files with new files and eventually edit some ini files if need ?

thank you !

Dear Darksaber,

Pleaae excuse me but It is my first time this forum and I don't know what is new, what is old and who done what.

I have donwload the Darksaber's Ultimate Craft Pack 2.6 and I find a huge upgrade for my opinion.

About the model:

T-65_Spyder_RedSquadron_adv_18-05-19

seem like close to Battlefront 2 (2017) and I like to play with this model.

unfortunatenly this guide:

https://darksaber.xwaupgrade.com/tutmxvted.html

is a bit complex for replace a model.

I ask if there is a more easy way to do it.

That guide is for adding new ships that weren't in the game and/or to custom-edit stats of existing models. You won't have to do most of that.

For Spyder's X-Wing you basically just copy the files into your flightmodels folder, as it's explained in the model's Readme.doc.

After that, start MXvTEd, load the xwing.shp file and click WRITE. No need to edit anything else in there.

Dear General_Trageton,

Thank you for your response, please excuse me but I need more help.

I have copied these files:

Xwing.ini
XWING.opt
Xwing.shp
XWINGCOCKPIT.opt
XWINGEXTERIOR.opt
XwingSkirm.bmp

from

T-65_Spyder_RedSquadron_adv_18-05-19

to xwa subfolder: FlightModels

open and saved with Mxvted4.2 the file Xwing.shp.

when I run xwa I see the new cockpit but the size is wrong, in short I see a very small square in the center of the screen (I can't send a screenshot because the print key don't do nothing).

I suppose I do something wrong.

Can you help me please ?

If you hit "save" then that's wrong, you "updated" the .shp file, not wrote the data the file contains to the game. Over on the right hand side of MXvTED under the ship slot number/selection box has a minus button, write button, and plus button.

Hit the write button.

XWASkirm.bmp, and Xwing.shp don't need to be in the FlightModels folder, I usually put those in a folder called shp files and call them from there, this keeps unnecessary file clutter down in the FM folder, and lets you keep track at a glance what has been installed and reload .shp files from if you need to make changes. To update the skirmish image for the X-Wing, if you want to do so, you will need to use XWA Dat editor to do so.

One thing at a time though.

Dear Driftwood ,

Thank you for your help.

New I see the cockpit, but there are some small differences:

1) No dynamic light like the video.
2) No crosshair like the video.
3) The target info seem not in exact position like in the video.

can you help me more ? what are the next steps ?

best regards

These are basically WIP by many individuals, you will need to scour the forum and learn how to apply these manually

thank you Darksaber for this information !

Do you think to add it in your Ultimate Craft Pack when will be complete ?

Apart this, can you suggest me some mission pack for xwa ?

The game has changed a lot over the years, so a lot of missions aren't really compatible anymore. I believe DTM is still working on his Rebels campaigns, and there is still work being done to get TIE Fighter ported into XWAU, with upgraded missions that take advantage of the XWA engine. Red Leader just uploaded a mission, and I believe has several more on his website. Finally, there GT has the classic Ashgard campaign on his website, although that will probably lack a bunch of features such as the new backgrounds. For myself, I am currently working on a Sequels campaign that takes place from the point of view of the New Republic shortly before the events of The Force Awakens.

For what it's worth I haven't given up hope to one day release my Blue Phantom Chronicles campaign/shipset/total conversion. What are a few decades....
