Seriously, this is insane! Imagine Lightsaber fights in the OT looking the way they did today....

I think the OT fights were fine personally.

Well I liked the ones in ESB and ROTJ but was never a fan of the very first duel between Kenobi & Vader. Too clunky and static for my taste. This remake does a great job in capturing both Vader's trademark onehanded style and the rage that burns in him since Mustafar, and showing off what he's actually capable of.

The lightsaber duels in Star Wars never really felt like they were about the fight itself but more about the interaction and dialogue between characters. It's fantastic work on a technical level but I definitely prefer the original.

I loved this fan-film, but the issue is about context and the time. You could not release ANH today, with that light-saber duel, in the same way you could not release Casablanca today in 3D.

As a 13 year-old I was mesmerised by the film in 1977, when it was light-years ahead of its contemporaries but still in the form we were used to a film being made in at the time. Fast-paced action scenes have come on a huge way since then, and this is what we now expect.

I think the original is fine, and this is from someone who loves the saber battles in the PT.

It's also a difference in how lightsabers were supposed to be seen at the time of ANH, Lucas thought at the time that lightsabers were heavy and as such combat with them would be slow...idea that changed when ESB came out.

if ANH came out during the 90s or early 2000s, it would had probably looked closer to that fanfilm

Darth Vader to Leia: "I regret to inform you that I was there when your ship escaped the battle of Scarif"
A dialogue update after Rogue One. Does anybody have any nostalgia of the "Legends" Battle of Toprawa?

I recall that from the beginning of the radio drama. That always seemed much more fitting than Rogue One's version. Beautiful movie. Pretty devoid of logic though.

The lack of any mention of “operation skyhook” was disappointing too.

I'm afraid Operation Skyhook will be relegated to the Legends continuity for long.

My problem with the EU version was there were just way too many cooks in one kitchen. I lost count how many times the Death Star plans were stolen and by whom.

I'm not saying that to bash Legends, because I love portions of Operation Skyhook (i.e. the Kyle Katarn, Keyan Farlander and Bria Tharen parts). But then you have stuff like Battlefront 2, Empire at War and Lethal Alliance thrown in there as well, which make no sense in terms of previous story.

Scenes 3 and 5 by Auralnauts are essentially an update to Episode IV with some references to elements from Rogue One, and they are well done.
The Death Star meeting scene with Admiral Motti and Lord Vader is a bit exaggerated, though I like Vader's reference to Order 66 (Episode III).
As for the duel between Lord Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi the version by Auralnauts is a total mess since it simply shows the same sequence many times.

The best version of Vader - Kenobi duel is that by FXitinPost. Awesome work with styles and powers. The only thing I find a bit odd is Vader's posture at the beginning.

I prefer to think they were engaging in a bit of self-parody there.

Both in George Lucas' version and in FXitinPost's version Obi-Wan Kenobi has been foiled by the superior engineering of the Empire since Lord Vader is awaiting him.
The difference is that according to Lucas Obi-Wan attacks first while exclaiming "Only a Master of Evil, Darth!", whereas in FXitinPost's version Vader attacks first.

Hm with that in mind and from how Obi-Wan's character evolved through the prequels and the TCW series, FXitinPosts's version would be more accurate, given that he's a solely defensive fighter and would never (correct me if I'm wrong) go for the first strike.
