A few more Chig ships I slapped together at the last minute, mostly to fill a few niches that needed filling for missions. These aren't anything special, just 'variations on a theme', really, derived from some of the prior work.
Chig Destroyer (Vertical ship, scaled to be about 800 meters 'tall' in game)
Chig Supply ship (Freighter, very lightly armed 400 meters long in game)
Chig Transport (Unarmed shuttle, 60 meter length)

The hammerhead is beautiful. Man I loved the Space Above and Beyond series, wish they had done more episodes. Great work. jmarso

Which fighters are you interested in?
I haven't gotten back around to rebundling opt files, but I can gen one up for you and post it to mediafire if you tell me what you're after.

That looks wicked cool. That particular shot makes it look like an alien warship of some kind from Independence Day.

My original thought was to use some of your designs as Draconian ships in a Buck Rogers TC, but that's probably not going to happen now. I've been slacking on the SAAB mission set as it is, with only two missions left to do, no less!
I did find a 3D model of the Flagship Draconia on line, but it was so incredibly detailed that I wasn't able to rework it and knock the poly count down to something usable as an OPT without turning it into a misshapen, globular mess.
Right now I'm trying to force myself to finish that SAAB mission set before the release of the Supercarrier module for DCS lures me back to the cockpit of my Tomcat...

Yeah, I know the site you are referring to...and good riddance to bad rubbish the guy was a complete and utter hack!jmarso wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 8:30 pmThere used to be large numbers of websites dedicated to the game, some of which had custom-made OPT files for ships and fighters from other milieus, most notably Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. These web sites are no longer around, a lot of those old files are lost to history unless you happen to have them in your personal archives.
...
And you want to know the worst part of it all? I still got his crap on my machine here...gonna delete it right now in fact.

It wasn't Admiral Andy who created the Battlestar Galactica Opts it was Andreas "Andy" Kroell Andy's OPT Download Page this is where your getting confused by the Andy's
Admiral Andy only created the
Crimson Starviper (nothing to do with BSG)
MC40a Calamari Light Cruiser
Supa Fighter
Mobquet Transport
the Mines
Utility Tug
Steele (Michael Boewes ) Created the Colonial Viper and I think the Cylon Raider?
Oldcode also didn't have anything to do with them, he once tried creating the Casino and a Propane Tank but that's about it (you'll have to ask him, he's still knocking around, but I think I'm right)
Not sure who made the Buck Rogers craft but it wasn't Andy Kroell and definitely not Admiral Andy. [EDIT] Though I do have a folder called ATX, with the Warhawk and BR Starfighter in, so did you make them ATX???

I helped out in getting the BS TOS Baseship opt done, mostly because I kept on bugging everybody I could find until it was finally finished! I can be annoying that way. After that, I was able to assemble the different meshes together so Optech could turn it into something useful.
Yes, I did try my shot at making the Propane Tank and Casino models. The models were made in Lightwave and then exported to OBJ before being brought into Optech. The models worked very well in game as I recall, but I am not a good texture artist, so I was never able to make a decent looking model. I asked around for texturing advice and\or even if somebody was willing to do the textures for me so we could get something that would be worthy of XWAUP, but that never happened.
Not too long ago, somebody released their own versions of both the Casino and the Tank, both of which is are being used in the Upgrade Project now.
This project has been awesome and I just wish I could have done more for it.
Cheers!

Oldcode did have a hand in the BSG mods. He mentioned the various models from Andy and Steele but he gave me some amazing screenshots of the Cylon fighter and Base which I touched up and used as textures due to their nice contrast and even shading (which surprised Oldcode since they were actual photos of model kits). Then I posted them up on my site (after getting Andy's blessing)....along with the Buck Rogers Warhawk and Startfighter I whipped up for fun shortly after. So the hack was me...yes I am a hack...lol
Oldcode don't sell yourself short...in a lot of ways you are just like Ace Antilles - XWAU's Keeper of the Flame!

Does anyone remember this one and know who the creator is? Sienar Fleet Systems yard. In game this thing is monster-sized. The readme I have has no author info.

Hmm I remember that one, have it in my file archive but it's probably the same file as you, stating no author.
My first guess had been Darksaber because it was once available via his site, but I think he only hosted it. Doesn't really look like his style either.
@Ace Antilles might know....

I'd like to use it in a mission in the next pack I'm going to release, but not without the creator's permission, hence the inquiry.

JM hasn't been around for at least 10 years, maybe 15. Getting permissions from him may be tough.
TBH tho: Custom XWA missions, that's 100% what these things were created for in the first place. I think permission is pretty much a given thing here.

Jeez, at this point I can't even remember where I even downloaded it, or half the ancient OPTs I've got knocking around my file archive. There used to be so many XWA sites and almost all of them are gone now.

Yeah, I saw it there when I was exploring old sites to see what was still active. I've had the opt file forever; I was just looking for Author info because I wanted to get his permission to use it in a mission-pack release.JeremyaFr wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 9:17 amJM website was XWA Expansion Guide.
