I’ve been getting an error message regarding GPU during single-player missions that crash the game. This has happened on three separate occasions
Error Message reads:
Direct3DTexture:Load
The GPU Device Instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action
Thanks!

Hello,
You can try the latest version of the DDraw dll and see if the problem persists.

Cool, thanks! I should make copies of the ddraw.dll and ddraw.cfg files already in the xwa folder, right?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I wasn't sure if this required a new one, as it's the same problem.
I'm currently getting the exact same error message as Dmman33, but the only difference is that my problem has persisted even though I have the latest ddraw files. Currently, I can replicate it every time by completing the single-player mission B1M2 "Rescue Uncle Antan"...after completing the mission objectives and returning to the Defiance, it crashes every time right after hitting Space to enter the hangar.
Relevant info: I'm on Win10 Home 64-bit, and have installed XWAUCPv1.6 with the patch v1.0 right afterwards. No other installs (except the latest ddraw from Jeremy's site).
Here's the Event Viewer readout:

UPDATE: a clean install with only XWAUCPv1.6 and NO patch 1.0 has cleared the issue for now. I think it's one of the hooks or the newer ddraw causing the issue on my end, I'm going to try to isolate which one.

I'm going to continue testing, but I've narrowed the culprits down to:
- Hook_32bpp.dll
- Hook_d3d.dll
Having either or both in my game directory is causing problems, although I'd need someone with more tools / knowledge to figure out why. All other hooks downloaded from the XWAHooksSetup program, as well as Jeremy's latest ddraw (as of 25 Sep 2020) have been added back with no ill effects.

Hello,
Correct me if I'm wrong. When you disable the 32bpp and the d3d hooks, the game runs fine. And when one of them or both are enabled, then the game crashes.
Which patches are applied with XwaExePatcher? You can applied all the patches marked as Recommended or Fix except the patches marked as Hook.
When the game crashes, is it always the same fault offset? Is there an easy way the reproduce the crash?

That is correct. Right now, the game runs fine when both are disabled. Sorry for the delay, I'm trying to get enough data to be helpful, as the way that I was easily reproducing the crash is now only working intermittently. I'll report back when I have something more substantial.
EDIT: forgot to answer your other question...the only patches I had applied were the full XWAUCPv1.6 with the patch 1.0 directly after. After doing a clean install with only the XWAUCPv1.6 and NO patch 1.0 afterwards, things got better, and then I narrowed the last problems down to the two hooks I mentioned previously. No other patches or installs, and I haven't used Xwaexepatcher at all.

Hello,
Does it show the error message if you re-enter the hangar after the launch without completing the mission?

I'm getting the same issue. Not sure if it's related to megapatch update 4, which I just downloaded... trying to start battle of endor. Downloading the ddraw file above allowed the mission to start, but there was no starfield--only green screen. Please advise.

I uninstalled everything and re-installed up to megapatch update 3, thinking that would solve the problem. It did not. Now the game simply crashes when it tries to load the mission. Advice appreciated. I'd love to finish the game!
