I have decided to go with the city block approach rather than several individual buildings. Individual buildings fill too many slots. Furthermore, with the way the shipset is set up, you will not be spending huge amounts of time
However, those of you who made individual buildings, please save them! As more ground surface OPTs become available, they will certainly be needed. Here is another thought. Some of you who made individual building models can submit them to be used as meshes on the city block OPT.
TIMMAY if you could please post some pics of your Mos Eisley city block for discussion, please do so. Ace and I will look at it and probably suggest some changes. As mentioned above, we may want to take some other building models and add them as meshes to the city block. Just as a general note, please make each building a separate mesh if you haven't done so already. The ground should also be a single mesh.
Help Still Needed
First, we need a model for the Mos Eisley Spaceport. Please submit the models here.
Secondly, I need help with the Massassi Temple. I have tried texturing the model with both OPTech and ACE_DXF and I am getting severe problems. The textures appear and disappear at certain angles. The faces are not disappearing, it's just the textures. I think it has something to do with the model because I've never had this problem before when texturing other models. I need someone to give advice, or better yet, someone who is very good at OPTing to take the model and textures and get them to work.

I'm not sure about the texturing problem, as I've only ever textured my landscape opts, but I'm trying make the Mos Eisley spaceport, it's just hard trying to get got views of it in the movies.
------------------
Visit my webpage, Freelancers Spaceport.
When a cat is dropped, it always lands on its feet, and when toast is dropped, it always lands with the buttered side facing down. I propose to strap buttered toast to the back of a cat; the two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Thanks TIMMAY. I think what I'll do later is repost the pics since I can get them to show in the forum.
Freelancer_MSE, I'm not sure about the texturing problem either. That's why I'm asking for help anywhere we can get it. As far as the Mos Eisley Spaceport, just do the best you can.
I will ask again, does anyone out there know what causes textures to appear and disappear? Maybe someone else can try to texture the model and troubleshoot it?
If we can just get the Massassi Temple, Mos Eisley buildings done, and the Mos Eisley Spaceport done, all that will be left to do is the voices!

Before you send me the model, TIMMAY, could I ask that please slap some textures on it and test it in the game? I'm not yet a modeler so I need an error-free model to work with. Any textures will do, I just want to make sure there are no errors in the model and that textures work OK before I get it. Thanks.
Also, If you want to look at the Massassi Temple model and see if you can get textures to work on it, please let me know. Any help is appreciated at this point

Hey I made a Tosche station model, and I was in the process of OPTing it but quit. Would you want it? It looks like the one in Rogue Leader but I have not played in a while so it may have left out some detail... I'll post pictures tomorrow I am dead tired now
------------------
Aaron
Deputy Project Leader
Imperial City Project
[This message has been edited by ACE (edited 04 April 2002).]

Here is a place wherer you can turn text to voice and save it as a .wav file. I'll check that out Ace Knight. I don't know when, because I have so many ongoing projects right now! It won't be used for Yavin though...we have enough sounds for that, but maybe for my Ashgard Campaign someday.

I got the bugs out of the Massassi Temple so I should have it OPT-ed shortly. It is completely textured and I'm in the process of stitching to get rid of the streakies. In fact, the only part left to do is the hangar, which should be done by sometime tomorrow. I'll post some pics soon.
Just two more OPTs, a Mos Eisley city block and the spaceport and the shipset will be complete minus the sounds...unless Ace keeps up... That's how close we are And some of you probably thought it was dead
Just so you know, I have about 1 month left before I lose a most of my free time, so lets make the best of it.

[This message has been edited by Abolisher (edited 09 April 2002).]

My MosEisley city block works in XWA, i just need to texture the buildings now. BTW. its quite fun flying thru there in a X-Wing
And also Abolisher, how do you go the skys for Atmospheric stuff?
------------------
Creator of the WWII Shipset : http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa/shipset
Or just visit my site at http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa

TIMMAY, are you planning to put the final textures on the model? What I meant earlier was for you slap any old texture on the model to see if the textures behaved well in the game. Then you would send it to me to texture. However, if you want to texture it, that's fine. I'd like to see the textures you are using, if you are planning to do the texturing yourself. I can also make some textures for you to use. Just let me know what you want to do.

quote:
And also Abolisher, how do you go the skys for Atmospheric stuff?

"...go the skies...?" I'm not sure what you are asking here.

OK, I'll look forward to your city block.
As far as doing the skies, I just use two 256 x 256 textures, one for the uppermost part of the sky, and one to repeat around the horizon. The horizon texture is symmetrical about the center so the clouds line up as it repeats. The symmetry is somewhat disquised by the fact that some occurances of the horizon texture are stretched more than others. Stretching is OK with sky textures, since clouds can take practically any shape.

The sky is a hemispherically-shaped OPT with the same diameter as the ground OPT. Bascially a dome. The OPT was created by Flavid. I'm just applying textures to it.

Here is a mid production shot, its just a quick picture from OPTech. The textures are nothing spectacular, since you said people would be flying over it quickly, but it looks better in XWA.
http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa/temp/moseisley4.jpg

------------------
Creator of the WWII Shipset : http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa/shipset
Or just visit my site at http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa

TIMMAY, if you could send me the model now, that would be fine. I can make textures that are much better than that, and I don't mean to offend, but I would like to do the texturing. I know Ace Antilles said we didn't need to worry much about detail, but that city block will probably be useful for other shipsets in which you do spend much time looking at the city. Also, with all of my other atmospheric stuff, I'll probably use it again somewhere If you have any problems with this, just say so, but otherwise, please send me the model and I'll get it textured up. Then all we need is the spaceport

TIMMY, do you have to include those damned links of yours every time you post something?
