In the First couple of X/W books it was called Mynock then he had it's memory wiped and named it Gate. I am pretty sure it is red.

I don't recall anything being mentioned about Wedge having an astromech in the NJO. He's a big bad general, he doesn't need one.

Yeah...in Bacta War, Wedge has his R5, Mynock's, memory wiped right before he and the rest of Rogue Squadron heads out to liberate Thyferra. It's still red and white, but it's updated to an R5-G8 (don't know what it was before), which Wedge translates into "Gate." Gate, unlike Mynock, does not scream every time someone shoots at them.
It was twenty years ago today...

Wedge 'retired' right after the Imperial Remanent and the New Republic had their peace treaty. He then vonlunteered to fly a recon x-wing (which doesn't have an astromech droid) during Corran's insetion into garqi I think (I hate the NJO so I do my best to forget all the rubbish I read). After this he doesn't fly star fighters anymore...he's a general or something and takes command of the big guns.

Wedge has been a general with the big ships since Dark Empire (where he destroyed the Liberator AND Emancipator with Lando's help) until later where he was in command of the Lusankya for about 4-5 years. He retired shortly after Vision ofthe Future then came back as a fleet commander in NJO. I don't think he has Gate anymore either

In Rebel Stand, it never mentioned Gate.

I'm assuming he still has Gate. Since Gate belongs to him, or rather to Tycho.

In Rebel Stand, he flew with R2-D2 a few times while Luke was on his way to Coruscant. In the end, he flew an X-Wing that belong to some new pilot, but I dont think it mentioned the astromechs name.

There was no Astromech in that one which is why he has to find a Rebel ship to get hyper coords, other wise he would have been traped.

Hi there!
All I know is that he already was General in 'Darksaber' commanding a Rebel strike force from aboard a Nebulon B Frigate I think.
In 'Crimson Empire' he commanded the SSD Lusankya.
That's all I know.
Bye!

**SPOILER**?

In Rebel stand Wedge effectively stole an X-Wing which should have had an astromech in but the base on borleis was being evacuated so he didn't have one(he was last to leave)
.
Oh and what's wrong with NJO, sure it's different but everyone said Star Trek (sorry) Next Generation wasn't proper Star Trek but now it is accepted as is Voyager, DSN, and Enterprise!!!
[ 25 June 2002: Message edited by: The Rookie ]

Please don't draw comparisons from Star Trek. the NJO is great. It isn't Star Wars however.

In XWING 8: Isards Revenge, when Rogue squadron flies lotsa Tie Defeneders (hell yeah!), Whistler and Gate (Corran Horn and Wedge's astromech) have an adventure on their own to get back to Republic space.
I think this is the only time a non-R2D2 astromech has an adventure of its own.
