Hello,
I'm making a mission in which the first step is to prevent 3 friendly escort carriers from being captured. I noticed that they aren't returning fire on the enemy. Originally their only order was to hyper to region 2. (Do ships not return fire when on this order?) Then i switched to SS circle, and made the way point next to the hyper point. They still won't return fire. Any ideas?
AllieD friendly star ships not returning fire?

I've just checked with MXvTED v4.1 and the Escort Carrier (ESC) has no laser weaponry at all under the "Weaponry" tab.
As for the mission editing
As far as I have discovered "Hyper to Region" is an order that does not require targets. However, the "returns fire" part should work anyway if the craft has any turrets.
SS Circle is an order that requires targets, unless you wish to barely have the "returns fire" effect.
Did you set any primary targets or not? In case you did not, you are only counting on the "returns fire" effect.
One last question: how many waypoints did you set for Order 1 (SS Circle)? In case you only set 1 it might serve for the hyperspace-exit vector instead of the order itself.
It depends on whether the craft comes from hyperspace or not.

I don't judge tactics. The Battle is the best and only Judge.

Generally large ships don't have anything under the "weaponry" tab, and the option they are default set to there is "use opt default" which will utilize whatever hardpoints are on the ship.
Since they are not flyable and don't typically fire their weapons in any particular order necessarily, this isn't a problem unlike it would be for a playable ship. The ships should be firing if orders or other conditions do not prevent it from doing so.
