After a brief preview with version 1.1.1, the XWAUP team is proud to present the Effects by Blue Max's version 1.1.2. Our skilled Blue Max has worked hard to bring the X-Wing Alliance game to a level that we could not even have imagined! New lighting effects, new shadows, anti-aliasing options, support for TrackIR and VR devices, the possibility of having Dynamic and Active Cockpits , new Cockpit Inertia … in short, a lot of stuff !!!

The patch is released with a new, simple and intuitive installer, which will allow you to freely experiment with the different settings. In fact, the installer can also be used after the first installation to reconfigure it. Try it and find your own configuration!

Separately, the XWAUP has decided to publish the new official Dynamic Cockpits currently available: A-Wing, Y-Wing and X-Wing.
But this is only the beginning! Many more new cockpits are coming!

You can ask your questions and leave a comment on the dedicated topic. Have fun!

Hey. Sorry, but both installers crash for me when they try to copy the files, both with this error message: https://i.imgur.com/IUJTs4a.png

I've uploaded them to the XWAUP Download server, you can take these links down if you wish :)

Oof, my ISP is extra slow today. But anyway, happy to report that both installers work fine now.

EDIT: Oooo, lasers lighting the cockpit — pretty!

that looks really good. Which I would like if it were possible to remodel the warheads of the weapons, so that we have new proton torpedoes, space bombs, rockets, etc.

Quick question. If I have an older version of these effects that was just extracted manually into the XWA directory, will the installer update appropriately or do I need to remove the files that are already there?

Or is this best on a clean installation of XWA?

HI Forceflow,

This is my feedback.

Installed:

Effects by Blue Max's version 1.1.2
Dynamic Cockpits v1.0

and after I see 3 difference:

1) all cutscene and options menu are now in 4:3.
2) the cockpit is not visible.
3) The game play around less then 10 FPS , and sometimes stop for 2/3 seconds or more (I have a GTX 1060 6GB)

Probably need more actions from my side, however I waiting for the full installer that I suppose will work better.

Did you instal XWAUCP or DSUCP beforehand? Also make sure your hooks are up to date.

@Jetremy/DTM, do the new installers check if one of the craft packs is installef? If not, that might be a reasone function to add ...

Edit: Oh and a Framerate drop was something I did get, when enabling both Anti Aliasing Options in the installer. You may wanna toggle only one of them.

Hi General_Trageton,

Here the order or installer:

Effects by Blue Max's version 1.1.2
Dynamic Cockpits v1.0

I don't sure if the hooks are update, I have only start these installer without do other.

I confirm that I have chosen MSAA Antialiasing (only) in the installer, probably this is cause of framerate drop.

1) There is a setting in DDraw.cfg to preserve or not the aspect ratio.
2) which craft?
3) If you have 2 GPU (for instance an Intel one and an NVidia one), please verify that the game chooses the right GPU

The installer overwrites the files of older versions from v1.0.8. to 1.1.1 - You don't need to remove the old files manually.
If you are using an older version of tha patch (version 1.0.6) you need to delate manually the file called "Hook_XWACockpitLook.dll"

Teroretically, this patch does not require XWAUP or DSUCP to function properly. However, it is advisable to start from one of these two configurations for an optimal result.

DTM, these older files could be removed by the installer, then there wouldn't be any chance of conflicts

Looking back through the files the only one seems to be Hook_XWACockpitLook.dll that was later renamed to Hook_CockpitLook.dll

I have the Same GPU and every Thing is perfect.
So i think you have a problem with the installation.
I had a problem with the first Version of the Effects, then in downloaded the hook and copied them manualy into tha game directory than everything was ok
